There was a question about rational for buying an S4 over a One and there obviously is plenty. The HTC One is inferior on all issues I mentioned. Which to many will make the One an inferior choice. You can stick your head in the sand (or somewhere else) all you want, but that doesn’t make it go away.
Although I agree the One isn’t as far behind the competition as the One X was.

it’s a good devices, but it’s inferior to other great devices on all issues that I mentioned.
BTW The rounded back isn’t the issue. The annoying sharp egde (which is at the … edge) is.It just doesn’t feel comfortable like a Galaxy or Xperia or Nexus.

I don’t like the feel of the HTC one at all. Annoying sharp edges.

Apart from the added 0, MS at best gets $5 per Android device. So $25 million instead of half a billion.
BTW a high end WP device license from Microsoft costs $30. That’s quite a lot more.

No replaceable battery, Sense, annoying capacitive keys (granted the S4 has this issue also), HTC One is constantly wrought with build quality issues, SD card, the HTC One feels uncomfortable to hold due to the sharp edges, poor daylight camera quality etc etc etc
Maybe each issue on it’s own isn’t a deal breaker, but it all ads up.

The “really” is to denote that it’s about the current status. At this point it’s quite the flop. If that will ever change at one point int future, no one knows.
Stop pretending people said otherwise. Or better yet, just stay under your bridge.

A crime is a crime … yet there are different penalties for stealing a pack of gum or killing someone.
It’s absurd to pretend that fighting a nuclear threat means one cannot have something to say about industrial espionage.
If the US would complain about Iran trying to close down Nuclear plants in the US then you’d have a point.

If WP can’t really succeed with billions worth of marketing then how is Jolla going to break open the market? Am I simply not seeing some compelling feature they are offering?

Bada marketshare was bigger (or rather less small) then WP. Don’t see why Tizen couldn’t do the same.

It’s not really like industrial espionage is the same as preventing a rogue regime from getting their hands on a nuke.

Maybe S3 owners aren’t a big part of the S4 buyers?
Also, people buying an S4 now will know that their S4 will be updated with new features in the future. It’s like the premise for buying a Nexus.

No, it really didn’t. That trend was already set before the Nexus was introduced. people expected crazy sales numbers from the N& and they frankly just aren’t there. Samsung is by far the biggest Android tablet maker.

The Nexus 7 came at the time when Android tablet sales were already going up sharply. Nexus 7 sold 5 million on a total of 130 million Android tablets in 2012.

Is this really something new though? I see tons of these TV → Android computer dongles. Dealextrema literally has hundreds of different ones in their store.

I though it was pretty clear what can be expected. Lemme copy that bit for you:
In the same trime frame of 5 quarters, Android went from 2% to 10% and then on to 36%. iOS grew to 17%
WP7 didn’t have laughable specs. It had high end specs for the time. Agreed, they held on to those “2010 specs” until 2012. Exactly the same is happening with WP8 though. It’s still stuck with dual core SOCs and 720p screens.
