As you can see, it has been water off duck’s back for Google. So have they done much wrong? Ok, so far Oracle has shown that Google copied 9 lines of code, well done.
Would the situation be different if Sun opted for a new-type of license as Google reportedly wanted at the first place? Undoubtedly.

Rubin is very much right in saying that engineers are hired to code, not to poke their nose in patents. Been in similar scenario and half-information becomes the truth, unqualified people distract themselves in stuff they don’t understand and just waste their and the company’s time.
The problem is the patent system itself. It would appear the US has for long taken the “patent everything” stance, where as Europe is restrictive of software patents. The question is what results in better long term outcome for the industry and us, the consumers? Is that one company with pockets full of cash or greater innovation across the whole industry?
