ARM is a different architecture than the x86 chips they have been producing for the last decade or so. AMD is going a different route from Intel in that the chips that it is making will not be low power smartphone or tablet cpu’s but ones that will be powerful and run servers.

The most that dish could get is 25% off Clearwire since sprint partners own the other shares, yet they want to appoint 3 board members and be able to make decisions on the direction of the company.

Isn’t sprint a majority shareholder of clear? Won’t they just vote against dish and it won’t go through? I don’t see the upside of trying to go with dish. We’ve seen how well Clearwire worked building out the wimax network…

The xbox one upsets me because as a pure game playing machine, it fails. If I put a game disc into the console and it won’t play because I don’t have internet, I’ll be upset. And while my wifi in my home is on 90% of the time, I don’t want to have to depend on the crappy actiontech router I have to use. My smartphone is always connected to data, but when it’s not, it can still make calls. It can still do its core job of making calls. Very frustrating as a long time xbox gamer.

How is it a lesser value? 21.6 billion for 70% control of sprint vs 25.5 billion for the whole company seems more than fair.

It’s because the xbox has a 50/50 split between matte and shiny. The ps4 has a 60/40 split.

Unfortunately ‘throwing up’ towers or even leasing them is neither cheap or quick. There is a lot of red tape that has to be gone through before you can add or remove equipment. That is one of the reasons sprint is slowed with their network upgrade.

I think at&t is more likely to do it than Verizon, since Verizon is cdma and at least with at&t you could use your phone on t mobile. Verizon phones you would have to jump through a lot more hoops.

Not really. New Zealand is much smaller than the United States. The heavily populated areas are easier to deal with than the ‘rural’ more sparsely populated areas that have to be covered too.

It’s bigger than the 70% of sprint they are buying. And if dish screws up the softbank acquisition of sprint, I’ll be quite upset. I’m looking forward to having a triband LTE phone next year.
