What does Open Source have to with anything? He surely was a user experience aficionado for sure though. Also, Apple has donated WebKit and Drawing to open source. It’s not like they hate it. And I don’t know what exactly price has to do with anything?? Except if you really think that the Xbox One will be free or whatever, making up for the online DRM requirement.

What???? I am sure Steve Jobs would not make a device that requires an internet connection at least once a day for DRM reasons.

So they become Google’s tool and lose any brand value, growing weaker and weaker until Google finally throws them in the trash can in favour of Motorola. Genius idea! I think you should become Chou’s replacement.

It is obvious Chou need to go. It has been proven that he cannot reverse the trend. He was good up to a point but he is not the right man to lead HTC anymore. When a CEO says that the only problem is marketing and everything else is perfectly OK, there is obviously a problem. It is good to improve your marketing but you cannot blame everything there and refuse to acknowledge that you have done any mistakes in the past.
Also, the situation with the Samsung haters here reminds me of the iPhone’s heydays.
A. Company X is successful, hurting company Y (,Z?,A?)(may be more than one company).
B. Fans of hurted company(/ies) find a know/major complaint, and refuse to count the positive points of company X’s products.
C. Having “proven” in their minds that the products are cr*p because of one prevalent complain, they attribute all of company X’s sales to marketing.
Examples:
1.Apple hurts Nokia/WM and Android’s growth.
Fans of Symbian, Windows or (later) Android: iPhone is cr*p because it is limited (prevalent complaint)
and it sells only because of Apple’s marketing! (completely disregarding the fact that the user experience was years ahead of anything else at the time).
2. Samsung hurts HTC (and other mobile companies)
HTC fans: Galaxies are cr*p because they do not have a fancy design (prevalent complain) and they sell only because of Samsung’s marketing! ( completely disregarding the fact that they are more featured packed and generally better in at least a few ways compared to the competition).
See the pattern?

“You are crazy if you think the majority of consumers give a crap about removable batteries and SD slots.” Bold statement. Proof? Because I know a lot of average people and they ask me when they want to buy a new phone. Most will completely skip it if I say a phone does not feature an SD slot. Also a lot of people want a swappable battery, especially professionals that are depended on their phone. So up to now we have excluded: “Geeks”, Devs who need an unlocked bootloader, Professionals and generally people who depend on their phone and need autonomy. Also people who have a large content collection (there’s a lot of them). We also exclude people who buy phones as a status/social symbols because they will buy an iPhone. That leaves us with the much talked about “average joe” who doesn’t need autonomy, doesn’t have a content collection, is not a developer or “geek” and will buy an Asha. So who exactly is HTC selling to?

No. Steve Jobs would never make a device that needs to call home every 24 hours. He cared more about the consumer’s experience than that.

This logic is flawed. Samsung does not have a 400 margin on GS4, they probably don’t even have half of that. The cost of the parts is a small part of the cost of producing an actual device. Devices don’t design themselves, Companies need to drop money into R&D, manufacture prototypes, test, re-evaluate, research again, design the device again. These processes cost huge amounts of money. Also, in order for a company to function they need to pay their employees, the stockholders don’t design the phone themselves. Then there’s also assembling costs (yes factory workers are very underpaid but underpaying thousands of people comes on to a large sum in the end). Also there is shipping, which depending on region might also be a large cost. From the actual revenue that remains a considerable part goes to the retailer not Samsung. The rest goes to Samsung, which has to cover marketing and start pumping money into the company’s next project (e.g. GS5, products cannot cover their costs before release). What remains after all of this, is Samsung’s actual revenue. Not even remotely close to 400$, believe me.

OK, They ruined command and conquer by destroying the original C&C studio and completely changing the game formula (C&C 4) to make it more “mass-market”. They destroyed The Sims by churning out poor expansions with very little content to force you into the Sims Store. They turned Playfish games into zynga-like crap and then started shutting them down when players started abandoning them (which was totally a fault of the games, not EA’s choice to turn them into farmvilles). They released a horrible sequel to DA:O which never (really) got the much promised toolset but just an overcomplicated useless application. They bought Origin systems, ruined them and then shut them down. And I could write much more if I had the time and wasn’t too bored. I am sure others can say more.

It doesn’t work. I actually have many more problems post 2.0 than previously. Also the regional features are still completely broken so don’t expect to do any linked cities and this kind of stuff. Also the game is boring. You will like it at first (when it doesn’t frustrate you at least) but eventually you will just feel that you have done everything (there isn’t that much to do, honestly). Also, cities still magically disappear into the cloud. Except from the fact that you can get in the game now that the servers kind of work, the actual game is not that different than launch day because for every bug that is (supposedly) fixed a new one is introduced. Also, casinos/tourism are still completely broken.
