Not a fan of the Skype interface (not MS’ fault) but it needs changing. However, I can see their reluctance to change as there are a huge amount of Skype users who are familiar with the Skype UI/UX.

My personal UI/UX preference is the now defunct Live Messenger client. It had bits of Metro in it (towards the end) and the social network feeds were great – but still had the separate list of contacts on the right hand pane.

I know a few people who hated that interface, but I personally wished that MS kept this over the Skype interface that we have now…

The default Black theme is just BEAUTIFUL.

No garish mish-mash of colours, just legible, crisp text and graphics, punctuated by clear accent colours; in other words, clarity and lots of breathing space.

It’s actually got worse! (If that’s possible! 😃)

However, I’ve noticed a correlation between the amount and frequency of positive developments coming out of MS and the number of negative/troll posts and comments.

It’s almost as if these trolls were funded by competitors….

It’s a much better experience.

The built in social media experience is the Best of any platform out there.

The Messaging hub will be a benefit for you (you mentioned you used sms, Facebook a lot). Text, Messenger/Skype and Facebook chat are integrated and show as a single conversation thread, enabling you to alternate any time depending on the availability of your contacts.
