I also think that the branding is a really big problem for them, in fact the biggest maybe. A friend of mine is out for a new phone these days and she asked me wether to buy the iPhone 5 or the Galaxy S4. I told her to go on and check out the HTC One as it is, IMHO, better than all the other Android phones out there. But she was like, no I don’t want an HTC, a friend has that HTC One for a few months already and I don’t like it. I tried to explain that the HTC One is newer and a lot more different that the One X her friend has, but yesterday when we saw eachother she said her friend assured her the One X is newer than the One. So at the end of the day, my friend said she’ll just buy the S4, instead of that old HTC phone.

I can imagine a lot of people who don’t care about the phone just google-ing the name and ending up with results for the One X and then give up and say, wait what am I doing, all my friends have an iPhone or a Galaxy, I should buy one too. (no pun intended) :)
