i don’t see why it can’t be both. Young girls (and boys) are exposed to a lot of cartoons.

I was going to say you’re just being thick or a troll, but based on your profile you don’t seem to be either, so I dialed it down to obtuse.
But fine. Whatever. So you disagree with me. Why don’t you explain to me how this:
Let’s not pick and choose which biological unlikelihoods we want to cling to in order to make our points. If one counts, they all count.
Can make any sense in a world where girls (and boys, and women and men) die of eating disorders every week and no-one dies from wanting a longer neck.

They’re whitelisting WebDAV, that’s all. MS has access. And WebDAV is open and EAS is not only proprietary but costs money to access. If we’re all going to pounce on Google when it moves away from open standards, we can’t also pounce on them when they move away from proprietary towards open.

Nintendo. The answer is Nintendo. Obviously, clearly, completely, Nintendo.
Could be fair use though.

So, if logic stands than everybody would be obese due to lifestyles and junk food availability OR everybody would be anorexic because they are bombarded with unrealistic images.
Unless you are truly stupid, I feel certain you know deep down that this is not what logic suggests.

oh sure, fine, whatever. I’m just saying to those saying Google shouldn’t have enforced because it didn’t with other Metro YT apps.

Just because others break the rules doesn’t mean Microsoft can. google can enforce its rules how it likes.

It seems there’s an actual factual confusion here. Either MSFT designed their app deliberately to hide ads, which Google alleges, or the YT API doesn’t do ads, which MSFT says.
Which is it?!

Thanks for the clarification. I really don’t think this is how Google’s lawyers think, or Microsoft’s for that matter.
1.they cited lack of ads as a chief reason – something MS does not have access to because Google is not playing ball
Except we don’t know that to be the case. Google claims MSFT deliberately coded the app to hide ads.
Can someone clarify – what MSFT is saying about the YT API not doing ads – is that true?

Some people eat much too little! And that is bad for their health!
Isn’t the world complicated?!
The difference is that obesity is mostly about lifestyles and junk food availability, while eating disorders are about people being bombarded with wildly unrealistic body images. Like. This. One.

They just had a different artist interpret the same character for a different purpose
And maybe that artist just randomly decided to make her a nano-waisted fake with a different facial shape! Just completely without any nudges from Disney in that direction at all!
But probably not.

I was being a little bit facetious – the ‘tech news first’ and ‘chronological order’ are both Engadget features. A chronological view would, of course, be a plus. But I don’t feel like reviewing the front page then clicking on ‘archive’ is a huge pest.
The obvious solution is RSS, but I imagine you realise that.
Re the content – I’d say the things that made The Verge distinct from Engadget in the first place (ie a broader look at tech culture) are exactly the things they’re expanding. So it’s not that they’ve diverted from their roots, more like they’re becoming more what they always intended to be. That doesn’t mean you should like it or anything, I’m just saying, I don’t think it’s fair – I honestly don’t – to say there’s been a big shift in emphasis.

The difference is that I think of Google Plus as a social network, because it is a social network, and it seems really odd to go there to use photo tools on photos I have no intention of sharing.
I accept that it’s not a vast difference, but I personally think these conceptual distinctions – particularly between private and public/social services – matter a lot for trust etc.

there’s three levels; local storage, cloud storage, and cloud social storage. I have no problem with Google pushing things to the cloud, it’s the blurring of private and social services that bothers me.
