Although I might have had my hopes high for some new Nexus devices, I’m not disappointed at all. Most of the announcements most likely will result in better app development for android. While there are some really smooth and useful apps, that are on par with the design guidelines, it can’t be said for every app in the play store. So some change was needed in this department, and google brought it with these announcements.
The only thing I don’t get, is why google didn’t introduced a new gmail app. They’ve updated some of the g apps (like maps and music), but gmail is left out.
About the S4 with the Nexus Experience. I think they use the S4 as a test to attract more people to the stock android experience. When they see that there’s a huge demand, maybe they start introducing more “nexus experience” devices.
- Google unified messenger (regardless of how it’s gonna be called)
- UI-overhaul for google apps (maps/navigaton, gmail, google+)
- New nexus phone
Furthermore I hope they make their other services available in the Netherlands (like play music, books, movies, etc.).
Also don’t restrict the sales of nexii devices to just a couple of countries. If they really want to bring things to the masses, they should release them worldwide. I really don’t hope they make the same mistake they did with the nexus 4 (which just recently became available via some dutch internet stores).
