I’ve had the HP Folio-13 for several days now, and I’ve not had a single moment of lag/slowdown while listening to music between multiple media players (VLC/Foobar/Windows Media Player), multitasking in multiple browsers (Chrome/Firefox), transferring GB’s of files in the background between two external hard drives while I do the above mentioned stuff, converting audio/video files, and even running Premiere Pro 5.5 to piece together a 720p HD video from a multitude of individual clips. The i5 + 128GB SSD has handled this all without fail. HD youtube videos watched at times throughout the above workflow didn’t phase it either.
I think about the only thing I could recommend would be upgrading the RAM from 4GB to 8GB (or whatever it maxes out at), if you’re going to be using the Adobe Suite of programs or something similar.
The speed of the SSD is not an issue whatsoever. Capacity might be, depending on your uses (it’s 90-100GB after formatting). I’ve currently got it sitting at a desk connected to the external hard drives (which I’m using to move the video files back and forth to keep it from getting full).
If you were aiming to do 1080p video editing, or HD video editing as it’s primary purpose, I’d probably look towards getting a system with an i7 + 256GB SSD (and Ivy Bridge). Anything less than that, you will not have any problems at all as far as speed.
Gaming of course is different, and I haven’t yet tested any games on it, since that’s not really why I bought this. I’ll probably install the old Dawn of War series of videogames on it once I finish the video I’m working on right now, but I expect with a game that old, it should probably be able to run it at full speed. This isn’t Ivy Bridge, so current games probably wouldn’t fare nearly as well.
The keyboard feels great, imo. It might take you a few days to get used to it’s texture, if you came from a Toshiba laptop that has slick, smooth plastic keys. These keys have a very fine texture to them, almost like running your hand across brushed metal. I dislike the cutdown arrow keys (and pageup/down + home/end keys requiring function), but ultimately I think I can manage. The full size shift and enter keys are a bigger upside.

But that’s only good for the next hour or so, so get on it if you’re interested.

Just a random update, Amazon actually has this one a lightning deal for just $735 no tax, free shipping. HP wouldn’t pricematch so I canceled the order via HP and repurchased it through Amazon.

Title’s obviously referring to the Folio-13, not that new one, btw.

That said, I just read over it and really do think that this could be an interesting game should it get greenlighted. Even though I don’t yet own an iOS device (planning to pick up a “New iPad” shortly though), I’ll probably be chipping in $50 of my own a bit later today. Kudos to the devs if this thing gets off the ground.

$500,000 is still $500,000. Even if that’s split between 10,000 fans, that’s $50 per fan. Kickstarter project starters should be aware that just because headlines have been made lately, it’s probably not the most ideal source for raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tens of thousands of dollars is a much more achievable goal by comparison, when you’re asking ordinary (non-rich) people for a dollar or two at a time.

You’d think that if you had something to tell an officer that you didn’t want anyone overhearing, you’d do so in a non-public location where you couldn’t be recorded. I think this is vital so that everyone is held justifiably accountable for their actions. It’s like instant replay in sports, people need to stop fighting it.

I know. W.T.F. You’d think less materials and weight (shipping) would reduce the price, not make it insane.

I kind of see Facebook as the modern phonebook. You’re simply never going to get rid of them. Everyone is on Facebook because….everyone is on Facebook.

Thanks, I’ll give it a look. Yeah, when I stated “easy”, I meant physically rotating the display, the software shouldn’t be an issue at all. I just wanted to be able to rotate the display without the base wobbling around, or the power/monitor cords catching on something on the desk, that sort of thing. IPS screen is ideal, if possible.
