You only need to look at iOS to see the solution to iTunes.
- iTunes
- App Store
- iBooks
- Videos
- Music
It’s a solved problem. No one is confused by this arrangement on iOS. In fact, by bringing it over to the Mac there will be less confusion and a more consistent experience.
The only thing missing is a syncing app. Syncing is a complex task and deserves its own app. This app can allow users to configure their sync and iCloud options. They can have it open as soon as an iDevice is detected by default so that regular people know about it.
So, yeah, I agree with your sync app and app store (combining iOS and Mac). But the iTunes app should be where you buy music, music videos, movies, tv shows, and podcasts; the video app is where you play and manage your video library; the music app is where you play and manage your music and podcast library; and the iBooks app where you manage and read your books. Just like iOS.
In an ideal world, Apple would also make a proper podcast app but let’s not push it.
The problem is trickier on Windows. Apple can have these 6 apps preinstalled on every Mac. Obviously, they can’t do that on Windows nor can they expect Windows users to install 5 separate apps. Maybe the best they can do is rewrite the iTunes app in to a more pleasant Metro-style app.

Siri had been in Beta since October 2011. Japanese language support was added in the iOS 5.1 release, but other than that, Siri has remained pretty much unchanged.
This is untrue. A lot of work on Siri is done server side.

I hope they get a great director.
Fincher would be awesome but I think he’s busy with House of Cards and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Yeah, it sends at 1710–1755 MHz and receives at 2110–2155 MHz. It’s the same spectrum T-Mobile uses.
My carrier gives me unlimited everything (and I mean everything) for $40. There’s no way I’m switching for any phone.

I used an iPhone 4 for a while and then switched to the Nexus S (which is still my primary phone). I had to switch because the iPhone doesn’t support the AWS spectrum my new carrier uses. I’m currently running ICS on the Nexus S. I also have iOS 5 on an iPad and an iPod Touch.
In my opinion ICS is the first competent version of Android. I like it. You’re experience on the fascinate isn’t representative of the Android experience as it stands today.
That said, I prefer iOS primarily for five reasons:
1. Updates. You get them. What a concept! Even though I have a Nexus phone it was still a pain in the ass to get ICS. And I don’t even know if I’ll get Jelly Bean. Meanwhile, iOS updates come exactly on scheduale and Apple provides updates to old hardware for years on end.
2. Industrial design. I don’t mean to offend anyone but Samsung’s industrial design is crap. I’m really getting tired of their cheap plastic. The Nexus S feels like a $2 phone. HTC does better (the One X looks nice) but Apple has world class designers and it shows. The iPhone is just breath taking, breakable, sure, but beautiful. As long as Jony Ive is running things in the design department I know that Apple will do interesting things and experiment with materials.
3. Apps. For one reason or another, iOS is still the platform for apps. Develepors go there first before hitting Android. It’s kind of annoying hearing about a popular iOS app while you wait, sometimes years, for them to arrive on your platform. Also, overall, the apps are more consistently higher quality. And finally, gaming is better.
4. Polish. Apple’s OS is still more polished than Android. There’s an inherit technical reason for the not-quite smooth scrolling on Google’s OS (they tried to explain it a few months ago) but janck is janck.
5. Ecosystem. I get most of media from iTunes and my computer is a Mac. I also have an iPad. With iCloud everything just works. Feels good, man.
So yeah, I prefer iPhone. If the next one supports AWS, I will definitely switch back.

Yeah, just to add to what everyone said:
OLED: It’s too expensive and still has color issues.
16:9: You don’t prefer 16:10? After all, this is supposed to be the perfect Air.
1TB SSD: This is going to take a while. It might be available in a custom config around 2014 or 2015.
16GB RAM: Maybe in the second half of the decade. Maybe.
i7 Ivy Bridge: It’s coming.
Geforce GTX 675M: A discrete graphics chip? It’s possible especially for a higher end Air. I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
HD isight camera: Plausible.
12 hour battery life: Not until there’s a breakthrough in battery technology.
Beats audio: Never happening. It’s mostly a gimmick anyway.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention a high resolution retina display.

I think my next purchase will be a new iMac. I’m waiting for a redesign which will hopefully appear this year. My current one has started to feel slow, especially next to the Air. Beyond that, I’m waiting to see the next iPhone. If it finally supports AWS, I’ll get it.
And, oh yeah, I’m going to buy an Apple TV after I move this summer.

Does Samsung own a plastic factory or something? What happened to the ceramic rumour? This design is very dull.
I guess I’ll wait for the next Nexus phone.

It’s a shame about the size. I hope Google’s next Nexus phone comes in at 4.3 inches or less.

There’s a rumour that they’ll redesign that next iMac. A redesign might mean the end for the chin. That’s reason enough to wait.

If you aren’t trying optimise your taxes, you’re doing something wrong. As a public corporation, Apple has a responsibility to its shareholders to the same.
If you have a problem with that, encourage your legislatures to change the law.
