Speed of growth is an inherently misleading metric. If WP grew from a 3% market share (for example) to an 8% market share, that’s 266% growth. HOLY COW! Of course, that still means that 91% of the market is something other than WP.
Take a look at this Tech Crunch article, which breaks this out exactly. Even though WP is growing (though not as fast as my example above), it’s still far from being a contender. Not a single WP phone is even cracking the top ten in Great Britain according to the same article — the top ten includes 3 iPhones, 6 Android phones, and a Blackberry.

Doors and soft top on was much louder in all of my Jeeps… Couldn’t ever hear the radio on the highway with all that canvas flapping.

That’s true. Look at the failure of Apple’s original PDA, the Newton. Widely ridiculed — even mocked in Doonesbury. Now, 15 years down the road, virtually everyone has a smartphone — smaller, and more powerful than the Newton OMP from 1995, to be sure. I think that’s the direction Glass will end up going — smaller, more unobtrusive, and nearly ubiquitous — though I don’t think it will take 15 years to get there.

Too bad the ‘Offline" articles weren’t excellent. This is the first one that really goes beyond “Derp! Snail Mail!” since the article about the Orthodox Jews and their take on the internet.

Nah, Samsung is far more diversified than Nokia… Don’t forget that besides phones, computers, and TVs, they’re a major industrial component supplier for the likes of HP, Apple, etc. Their market share in any one market may ebb and flow, but losing ground across the board? Not nearly as likely.
