They arent going to wake up one morning and see andromeda in the sky, they wont notice a change at all, the sky will look exactly the same for their entire civilization. Its a process that takes billions of years, civilizations will rise and fall, planets will die, stars will be formed while all this happens.
Theyll know its happening (unless its on the opposite side and cant be seen, we may be merging with a galaxy right now for all we know since we dont know whats on the opposite side of the galaxy) but they wont be able to observe the changes.

The way solar systems operate will be unaffected, it is possible that they will detach from the galaxy, or join the other galaxy, but the gravitational effect would not be strong enough to change the orbit of planets revolving around stars. Another star would have to enter the solar system or come close enough to grab onto one of the outer planets, that is nearly impossible due to how far stars are spread apart, even if you double them up by combining galaxies.

actually the merging of galaxies is unlikely to have an impact on things already in the galaxy, things are spread so far apart that they wouldnt even notice… except for the stuff in the middle where the black holes join (or in the path of the black hole, which would be extremely narrow in terms of a galaxy).

And there is real world value like what its selling for on Amazon and then Xbox Marketplace value, they are VERY different and you can be sure the fee will reflect what MS charges, which is full MSRP for pretty much the entirety of the games life.

MS doesnt care but Im sure a number of its employees do. Along with hackers.
Unless they outline some hardware limitation that no video can be sent to the console when turned off I wont be using it.

It does need an internet connection, they spun it to say you dont need a connection 100% of the time to play the game (like sim city). Theres no way their used game fee system will work if they dont check to see if the game is approved each and every time you run it (since people will install then sell, or rent and install).
It just needs an internet connection for a few seconds during loading, therefore not always online! spun!
3 days ago on Xbox One doesn't need always-on internet connection, supports used games (update)

Im surprised Verge decided to indulge MS in this level of shameless PR spin.
Ok its not “always online,” but it is “briefly online” and it probably checks every time you start the game making it basically what people were afraid of. But lets give MS a pass since if its not always online then that means its never online! yay!
And yes it will support used games, there will still be a fee and that fee might be so high to make buying used games pointless. You dont have “plans” and “future announcements” if theres no price involved.

pretty sure you wont even be able to play the game on another profile on the same console without extra fees
They already got people buying multiple gold accounts and now they are going to get you to buy multiple copies of the same game

ABS is the only thing I can think of, but thats more of a kick (force feedback) than a vibrate. A vibrating trigger just sounds like a gimmick unless someone can think of an example where the trigger should vibrate instead of the handle, I cant think of anything where it makes sense.

Theres no way to tell until someone who knows what to look for uses it, the reason the 360 dpad was garbage was because they overengineered something really simple and put it on some damn rocking axis point, which made exact inputs and slides nearly impossible.
But given that its not a disc Im thinking that its a regular dpad.

I dont see how 3d printed guns solve anything, homemade guns have been around forever, unless people need to rely on the media spoonfeeding them common sense and it never occurred to them that you could make guns before 3d printers.

Im not commenting on the article… Im commenting on the person saying it doesnt need SMS because you can use regular SMS. It needs SMS for any chance of widespread adoption.

Comment
They need SMS to get people using it, once everyone uses it people will naturally use the better features.
The app should be smart enough to know if the contact has Hangouts, if they do it will be easy to send regular messages instead of SMS, if the contact doesnt then it just does regular SMS.
Without SMS nobody will use it, its as dead in the water as AIM.

Everyone who has an android phone already has a google+ account, it is no different than an apple login. What remains to be seen is if Hangouts will require a Voice number or will work with your carrier number.
Knowing Google they’ll have to ruin it somehow by requiring people to use a Voice number. We can never have our cake and eat it too, there always has to be something screwy.

Yes, it was unbelievably stupid to release it without SMS support, now millions of people are going to dismiss it and think its just some useless google+ shit. Its going to to take a long time for them to get those people back. Hangouts only had one real job, to finally bring SMS integration, and they didnt deliver.
First impressions are extremely important, and Google got an F for that with Hangouts, they shouldnt have even mentioned it until the feature 99% of people need is supported.

really simple solution to that, stop supporting a greedy carrier and do us all a favor and pick one that doesnt completely rip off the customer so that greedy carrier will have to compete. I pay $30/month on tmobile and get unlimited text included.

They do NOT count using the google+ webpage as being an active user. They only count usage across the account. That means every single youtube comment counts as google+ usage, which is why google+ is slightly ahead of youtube. Using their definition of active users it is impossible for it to fall below youtube.

Thats what I was going to say, nice design, still no reason to use it. There can only be one social network, there is just no reason to juggle both.

I may be a special case because I was a heavy Photoshop user and had tons of ram even compared to gamers, so for me Vista worked just as well as XP but had a better UI. I also used to 64bit version which I was really thankful for.

I also had ME and never had problems with it (in comparison to 98), I preferred it for its lightning fast bootup compared to 98 which took many minutes. It sucked bad compared to XP but 98 also sucked really bad, both crashed constantly, XP was the first stable OS MS ever released (maybe 2000 but I never used it).

I like the new explorer a lot, thats it. The start menu was a pain, accessing the start menu was fun because coming out of certain applications would prevent the hotspot from being recognized until clicking first on the desktop, and the delay was really uncomfortable.
It is an HTPC and my cable card tuner almost never worked when waking from sleep. It was also incapable of recording a show while the computer was asleep, it would wake and then 15 minutes later go back to sleep with no error or anything.
I had this issue which left me with no space every week: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/6efbf453-aec3-4cfc-b6e0-de9dc5e6a99c/
Then Windows Update somehow got corrupt and I couldnt install drivers or updates anymore (maybe the result of deleting files to fix the previous issue). That was the final issue and instead of reinstalling I went back to 7 (which I was wanting to do for awhile but was too lazy)
It was a disaster for me. I used the beta versions of Vista and even those worked FAR better than 8 did.

I never figured out how it decided when to launch metro IE or desktop IE. It seemed completely random when clicked from the start menu (in desktop emulation mode it always launched the desktop but the start screen was out of its mind).

I actually liked Vista, after such a long time using XP I would have taken anything. It also ran well on my computer.
But 8 is the first OS I have ever installed and then went back to the previous version. It really is an extremely bad OS. I will give 8.1 a try because its free but I have very very low expectations so Im just going to install it on a thumbdrive first, until I see some HUGE changes and they give people a reason to use a computer instead of a $300 tablet MS is dead to me.
