You know I think it’s kind of ironic hearing a guy who did a show that basically was a giant prequel mixed into a show and then made the show into a prequel with half of the new other half of the show and then told us that it all didn’t matter because everything was fucking pergatory say that to him calling Prometheus is be kind of"diminishing"…
No wait. That’s not ironic. That’s expecting me to trust him not to bullshit me again.
What’s diminishing to Prometheus is not calling it a prequel, but his name attached to it after I watched “Cowboys & Aliens”.
He bullshitted me twice already and the only reason I watched this interview is the Star Trek Prequel. I mean remake.
Ah whatever.

How on earth do you know what the REAL story is? Seriously, I give up trying to get this into your thick skull: you don’t know ANYTHING about WHY Gruber chose to leave. All you are asking for is lies so that you can feel good about the whole situation because you will never ever get “the truth”™.
So whatever. Read Monteiro’s Twitter for your enjoyment. He’s basically bullshitting in the extremest form ever because people like you can’t deal with life.

Jesus Christ. Is it so hard to understand that Monteiro didn’t say anything ABOUT THE TALK SHOW?!?
He replied to people insulting him for luring Gruber away from 5by5, for breaking up the show. He didn’t give a statement AT ALL about ANYTHING regarding the Talk Show.
And you pretend that reacting towards people accusing him of things that did not happen is talking about it.
And that statement from Benjamin makes me want to throw up to be honest. Something clearly was going wrong between them and all Dan now does is giving everybody a feel-good story that they are all fine and they they’ll always love each other, even though daddy isn’t going to live with mommy anymore.
If that’s what you needed – you got it. Doesn’t keep you from now wondering for a couple of years if daddy cheated on mommy or not, does it?

Monteiro is taking the high road in not using his knowledge of what was going on behind the scenes on 5by5. He IS staying quiet on the topic.
All he does is react towards people who call him names. So your interpretation of “staying quiet” is not only not talk about the matter at hand but also take the insults from “fans”?
That’s a very broad definition of “taking the high road”. Asshole.
See what I did there? Don’t you dare reply. Because otherwise you won’t be taking the “high road”.

Again – what is the point of asking him for an explanation when he won’t give one because he doesn’t want to turn this into a he said she said?
People who don’t understand that he couldn’t tell even if he wanted to are by definition acting entitled.

You know why Dan Harmon got fired, right? He openly insulted Chevy Chase in front of the whole production crew. He basically fired himself.
Interpretation: Dan behaved like an ass and fired himself. There ya go.
Same goes for every other post Gruber did.
T-Shirts: Hey, guess what, Benjamin made T-Shirts without asking me AND I don’t get a fair share – here, buy mine, so I get my fair share
Podcast app: “You know what? That guy I did a podcast with put out an App that’s 4 bucks. And he told me I get nothing and I should like it.”
Zeldman: I agree with you there. It’s mine and I can do with it whatever I want.
Digital groupies: reaction towards people calling him names and feeling entitled.
And again: the night Gruber launched his new podcast, Benjamin published 1.0.3 of his Podcast app for 5by5, removing push notifications for The Talk Show. He then announced the re-launch of “The Big Web Show” which is, hey, guess what, HIS old show he did without Gruber. And again on the same night Zeldman had Benjamin on his show. You know, the guy who pumped money into 5by5 who has a show on 5by5 has the guy he gave money on his show and they don’t mention Gruber at all.
So how’s that not the same on BOTH sides?
Just because Monteiro tweets and Gruber tweets and they don’t STOP tweeting and Gruber keeps posting news updates to his site that are, hello, Apple specific and on-topic, where he doesn’t comment in any way, but rather just quotes stuff… I know that that is passive-aggressive but so is everything Benjamin did – both in the last 2 minutes of the 90th episode of the Talk Show on 5by5 and with everything else he did.
They are both basically doing the same. And people are only pissed at Gruber.
Again: I DON’T GET THAT.

I’m sorry but since when does Monteiro have to take “the high road” when people are calling him names when his claim to fame is calling people names?

But why has Gruber to mention Benjamin then when he does the show without Benjamin now.
If Benjamin was the key to the “success” of “The Talk Show with John Gruber” then you could be pissed about Dan not being there but you can’t be pissed that John Gruber doesn’t in some way acknowledge the elephant in the room.
Why would you start a show that’s not going to have Benjamin on with mentioning Benjamin? That’s like saying “Hey guess who’s not here? The guy who never will be here. Let’s thank the guy who isn’t here and can’t speak for himself about the situation and get this new episode off on a really weird note”.
I simply don’t get that.

Again – how is not saying anything about Dan Benjamin insulting Dan Benjamin? And how is that not the same thing Benjamin does?
The only reason I see for people to ask Gruber to somehow “thank” Benjamin in the announcement or on his new show is because he somehow “took” something with him that people think doesn’t belong to him. And I don’t get that. People somehow think that Dan owns a part in the name and Logo of “The Talk Show” without even knowing if that is even the case.
Without any evidence for that stance people pretend as if Gruber “stole” something and ran.
I am not going to make up sh*t now to express the other possible things that could’ve happened just to even things out. Because I don’t think that is necessary.
Gruber took his talent elsewhere. And people are basically pissed that he didn’t rename his show.
Somebody please tell my why.

Monteiro is reacting to people calling him names. How is that not taking the high road towards Dan Benjamin? Don’t get off topic.
And hob is Gruber expressing “anger”? I’m sorry but I don’t see any anger anywhere. You have to be more specific.

Your comment is weird. First you say nobody feels insulted why they weren’t consulted and then you say “they only asked what happened” – which is basically “Why wasn’t I consulted” in a nutshell.

I hear that “class” ‘argument’ all the time.
What exactly is the “classy” move here when you take your show and go to another network? That he didn’t spill the beans on why he did it? That we didn’t get an explanation why Dan is evil?
Quite honestly I don’t understand why taking the high road and not saying anything (which all parties do apparently) is classless on the one side (Gruber, Monteiro) and “classy” on the other (Dan).
Sorry, I don’t get that at all.

The question is if it ever WAS a friendship.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but during baseball playoffs Dan once said that Gruber didn’t get back to him for over a week because of how the Phillies (Benjamin’s team) won and the Yankees (Gruber’s team) lost during that time.
Maybe that was all irony and sarcasm but maybe it wasn’t. Dalrymple filled in for Gruber two times in the last two months and Gruber was frequently on holidays and managed to call-in from a marina one time and from the street in SF another. Maybe Dan was “kinda” pissed about that off the air because the show’s Dan’s livelyhood while Gruber couldn’t care less about it if the show is not on. They frequently talked on the air how Benjamin never goes on holiday and Gruber does it all the time. If Dan indeed has this professional attitude that comes through all the time then it’s a small wonder they made it this far.

Nope.
It’s pretty clear that Dan has an on-air personality and an off-air personality. Him asking about the T-Shirts and “same time next week” in the last seconds of episode 90 are passive-aggressive. Most likely the thing that made people go insane with Dan off the air. Faitherina left/was fired back in December, Monteiro left last year. Gruber and his wife did two guest spots on Let’s Make Mistakes. Gruber writes for American McCarver, as does Monteiro. Zeldman funded the 5by5 network and has a show there – Gruber called ReadItLater, also funded by Zeldman “scumbags” re:their way of making money.
The writing was on the wall, we just didn’t know because again – Dan has an on-air personality and manages to be very “accomodating” towards his guests, which is a good trait for an anchor. Guess why so many times they mentioned on The Talk Show that Dan was to agreeing with John. Most likely Dan wasn’t but didn’t say anything to avoid conflict. Same thing he does now. By not saying anything (like he did when Let’s Make Mistakes left 5by5) he avoids having to answer anything.

Right. That’s why the US always wins the World Baseball Classic.
In the end, an OWNER becomes “WORLD CHAMPION” ‘together’ with his employees.
It’s as if corporations play for the world title. Why not let Chrysler have their own team at the Olympics?
eyeroll
If it were possible for other teams from all over the world to join the pro leagues in the US – fine. But let’s face it, there is a reason why it is called the NATIONAL pasttime. Even if teams from Japan would WANT to join the MLB, they wouldn’t be allowed. All due to monetary reasons.

My brother has been a diabetic for three years now. Not once did he have to exchange the batteries in his tester. Just called him. Nope. Never had to change them. Not once in over 36 months.
Again: this thing is ridiculous. Too expensive and with no apparent advantage over any regular tester you get FOR FREE because they get you through the price of the test strips.
And those testers come with built in memory. They can tell you your results for the past several weeks, at least until you have your next regular checkup every two months.

Every time you want to use your left hand you have to take the glove off. Are you seriously trying to tell us that putting on a glove is faster than just picking up your phone?
Ridiculous.

After I thought “How much are the strips” I thought “Why isn’t this wireless?!?”
This device is completely idiotic. Instead of making it use bluetooth and accompany it with an awesome iOS App or make it integrate with Banth, they add a dock plug to it just so you can attach it to your iphone.
Marketing people designed this, not someone who actually has diabetes and has to use the materials each day.
