Meh on all of these counter arguments. From all of the ‘sources’ it is obvious that they’ll be doing a online method of checking that you have the game. If you sell the game, it is not yours anymore. This is the Steam model with used games. If you didn’t want used games, they wouldn’t need to renew the ownership timer after you have been offline. Hopefully they’ll have a “you can keep the disk in or you can connect to the internet” method for the people still living in the past.

I think they would want to go forward with their new method using an HDMI input rather than having uverse install the entire set of software onto it.
Comment
Uverse on 360 is done by adding software to the Xbox. AT&T does cable over IP and their cable boxes use Ethernet jacks that a tech installs in the home. So instead of the 360 needing the cable input, it just uses the Ethernet port then goes into the same software their boxes use when you launch the app. It would be sweet if the X1 will be able to accept Uverse signals the same way but I don’t expect it to happen.

Your question is if there is a method to show output the Phone’s display to a TV or other display device (in your case, to show a power point). The short answer is no.
The long answer is there is likely some kind of ‘airplay’ like streaming planned for the Blue updates. People have been finding .dll files for – and noticing links between – Xbox and Windows 8.1 to allow connections over Wi-Fi direct and other wireless display technologies. So it may be possible in the future with some kind of device. Right now, that file from your phone can be saved to SkyDrive, then viewed at any PC on the web or with native Power Point.

Go do some research on development then. Take a look at coding calls, which is what jumps off the top of my head as the biggest deal. Make sure you realize that most games are sold for Steam on PC. Find out about the testing and such that goes into making a multiplayer game and all of the plugs for Xbox Live. That all needs to be shoe horned back into it. Think of it like this: Why do iOS apps not run on Android and Windows Phone?

Don’t be surprised when you can’t play them due to a not fast enough internet connection. There are some legitimate concerns with streaming games that have happened in the past. How are they going to handle game detection? Assuming best case, you simply insert your original game and the PS4 allows you to play the streamed version. Will you need to pay for that though?
I know you want that cash back for your new system but… if you want to play old games reliably, keep it.

You’re missing the part where they would need to go back and change some code in the game, essentially re-releasing the game, in order for it to run. Games do not “just work” when it’s the same ‘architecture’ but it does make it easier to port (taking large sections of code and editing the system calls) due to the way the code will react to the hardware.
For instance, part of a game may not need to be installed for Xbox where PC has the entire game being installed. There are also methods of saving that are different between various platforms. Controls may need to be tweaked, digital signatures needed to be verified that this is meant for the platform. Others can write more specific details if they want to add more.

I assume that it uses HDMI input and a similar guide method to Windows Media Center (downloading a full guide from online). IR blaster to change channels. It should work with OTA as long as you have a box to plug hdmi into the system.

I’m not sure what they’re talking about. It looks like there’s a micro USB plug at the top of the controller (you can even see it plugged in at the end of the video). The bottom was always a multi connector port for accessories. My main question is if you’ll be able to use that USB plug to run the controller without batteries.

Facebook groups came out after Google+ did.
This is factually incorrect. Facebook’s grouping / lists / sharing features, which is how they manage privacy, came out before Google+ did. Regardless of who you like better or who you think does it right, it’s a false statement. I believe Engadget did a “How to set up proper lists” feature a long time ago.

No full-blown Windows RT
No shit? RT does not run on x86. The question is if it’s based on the core similar to how the phone is.
Also from the forum post in you’ve taken this from:
So a good portion of this is pieced together info with extrapolations based on what I think makes sense.
Seems legit.

Why does start screen show up in multitasking list? Do you really need it in that list? I mean pressing Windows key should by default take the user to start screen anyway.
The only time the start screen shows is when you go to the multitasking view from the start screen. At least that’s how it is in WP8, I can’t remember if it was the same way in WP7.

That example is a pretty big hyperbole for
Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 are UNUSABLE!!!
If your programs are full screen (any time actually) there is a delay in the time it takes the full Charm bar to pop up. You can still click through it when it is clear. But I agree, the hot corners do get in the way for me at times too.
Also, people are expecting updates to be pushed out way too fast. They do not have the pull with the carriers that people expect.

While I agree with the guy above, I’ll say it in a different way. The Oculus Rift is over hyped. Right now it’s being shoe horned into a few games in a poor way. Games need to be developed with the Rift in mind in order for that thing to make good use and even then it will be an add on to any game experience. You can’t force this into games today and control the aiming with your face. It is not a good way to play. To be able to free look on a separate axis from your mouse/joystick/wheel is the only good use for this thing. It’s cool… very niche.

I agree. My Surface has always been pretty nice to me. On the closing tab thing; I wouldn’t say it takes ages but it seems to hiccup for a moment when closing a tab or moving between ones that are loading. However, I do like using keyboard shortcuts in IE metro. CTRL+W to close tab seems to work faster (no animations). CTRL+T to open a new tab, and CTRL+TAB or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB to move forward or back between tabs works well too. It’s wonderful how similar my desktop, laptop, and tablet controls all work the same way.
Comment
Try not closing metro apps. It will make switching between much faster. Click in the top right to go back previous app (desktop).
