I became a bit disappointed in the direction the parent company has steered Kotaku in but then this place popped up so hey, new digital home.

Sometimes Peter waxes lyrical about his concepts so much that its like untangling a ball of spaghetti that has no end or beginning. In the end you have a delicious meal where it doesn’t matter which end you start with.
See Peter, you’re not the only visionary that comes up with awesome sounding ideas which have no literal meaning. I can do it too.

Sorry, but why don’t you let the quality of the reporting influence your opinion of these guys and their abilities.

Sorry bud. That’s not likely to happen. Just be glad they bothered to port it at all.

No. Haven’t picked up a good game related read since Arcade Mania. In a nutshell give me a quick paragraph or two of a review :)

I think Metacritic is a great tool for comparing the official thoughts of journalists and writers you respect. At the same time I can’t really get behind the idea that it represents absolute authority because at the end of the day calculating the average of ten people is only based upon the thoughts of ten people. – people with their own personal preferences in the way of game genres.
Personally, if what I have seen isn’t enough to sell the game to me I’ll wait a few weeks or so and check out my XBL or Steam friends lists and see if the people who bought the game are still playing it. My friends have a similar taste to mine so if the game is engrossing enough to appeal to them after then then I’ll pick up a copy.
When I used to write at OneLastContinue we had a policy of not scoring games with arbitrary alphanumeric characters, instead letting our writing do all the talking so to speak. Sure, its not as eye catching as a number but when the majority of games get rated ‘8’ (see Eurogamer) it lessens the impact of the wording contained within the review because at the end of the day, in that outlets eyes, aren’t most games the same?
Mass Effect 3 is one of those titles that I pre-ordered, and didn’t care what any reviewer said.
Same here. Personally I find the adventure – the journey – to be more important than the eventual payoff because the more you expect it to be amazing the more you’re going to be disappointed. And with ME3 I wasn’t disappointed, but I was heavily invested in the journey not to care that other peoples ideas about the ending didn’t match mine. It was my adventure, not theirs.

Some people like it, some people don’t. Personally I like my i4 and will probably upgrade next year to a new iPhone. I do however respect that you are not enamoured with the product as much as others but in the end I like to remember that its just a phone and as good as it is there will always be a better product out there. But good on you for giving the platform another chance.

I think software is the most important element of any platform and as of now the Move hasn’t got enough of it. Maybe if they started with Move 2.0 as a part of PS4 there would be a bigger developer uptake.

It’s one of those things where having a hobby you enjoy (gaming) does not make you an expert in producing content in that arena. Shilling clearly never learned that lesson until it was too late.

I’m still convinced that Nintendo have something else up their sleeve aside from NFC technology but I for one admire the direction they are taking with WiiU. I wouldn’t be surprised if the screen itself had an upgrade since last year from its resistive FWVGA to a multi touch resistive WSVGA type.
Whats the point in trying if you don’t take risks. It either pays off for you or it doesn’t but in the end everyone benefits from the attempt. Gamers, competitors and the person who had the guts to try.
I just wish the control sticks had the octagonal notches like the Wavebird controller.

Fantastic read as always but something which confuses me is the following.
“Earlier this month, state officials began meeting with Schilling to try and figure out ways to keep the company solvent.”
In fact they are still hiring now for eighteen positions which shows they are trying to pull themselves out of a hole by burying themselves deeper inside.
