As per Horace Dediu, Google earns about $6.50 per Android device per year including advertising revenue. How many Android devices need to be sold to make that $12.5 Billion investment in MM viable? This goes back to the heart of what is the true value of Android for this publicly traded company?

Agreed. It’s A stunt that is tiring out fast. Are JT and NP going to do this every week, filling him in on what everyone already knows? And making arbitrary rules like he can’t watch a Skype video feed? It’s not like he’s a vegan being forced to eat bacon. These are all arbitrary rules made up so Paul can have some inevitable catharsis about how unplugging improves his self esteem. I mean come on and get over yourself.
As Horace Dediu says, the “Job to Be Done” that the verge is “hired” by it’s readers to report on technology news and give inciteful commentary. And how does Paul in his self exiled state contribute to this?. This is really the “Jump the Shark” moment of The Verge.

Mean? The failed promise of The Verge is a false sense of objectivity in order to tiptoe around speaking the truth about a technologic product.
The truth is that PM is obviously the weakest link in the Podcast and is easily replaceable. Josh and Nilay are obviously irreplaceable.

Paul’s not that important to The Verge that a silly stunt (which is what this is) will hurt the website, podcast, or web show at all.

Agreed, its a totally B.S. and fantasy based proposition, although I’m sure its going to (And already is) generating page views.
I think Paul Miller’s presence will be missed a lot less then he believes.

No offense but good riddance. Paul seems like a nice guy, I just don’t think he contributes much other than longing for non existing technology: free type display-less keyboard, wifi calling, robots in the home.
I think he’s gotten worse since he shaved his mustache and went from the high school science teacher look to the 50’s NASA control room nerd look with the horned rimmed glasses and skinny tie.
I for one will not miss Sir Paul.
I look forward to the day when The Verge lives up to its promise and moves the provocative articles from the forums to the front page.
Just my opinion.

The only burn is when fandroids salivate over preannounced vaporware for months before they can get it. At least with an iPhone you can have one a week later.

Sounnds like you need to get with the program and pick up an iPad. Never send a boy to do a man’s job.
