You shouldn’t need to edit your Xorg.conf anymore. XRandR should be able to do everything you need to do, without the proprietary driver.

You might want to consider a self-hosted service to deploy one yourself. Get an always-on Linux box, put on SparkleShare (which is very similar to Dropbox) and you will get speeds as fast as your internet connection..

If Valve made a Windows box that ran steam, they would essentially be going up against every desktop manufacturer, and no one would buy it because there will probably be better desktop PC builds from other companies, as well as a threat from most gamers who will opt to build their own PC.

The whole point of a “Steam Box” is that it is an integrated game console that works well on a big screen, and specialized for gaming. Windows is not specialized for gaming, and Valve can’t modify it because Microsoft wont let them.

Linux allows them to customize it however they want. Yes this will mean a smaller library, but any gamer that cares about having a big library probably isn’t interested in using a game console anyways.

Weather widgets are pretty damn useless imo. They’re pretty much just for show, not sure why anyone would want them.

On Android I have a GReader ticker widget that cycles through the headlines of unread items. I also have a twitter widget and a music player widget, which saves me the time of having to open up the respective apps for those.
