Ever hear of a phone called the Droid Eris? No? Good. It launched with Android 1.5, had a 600MHz ARM 11 CPU, 128Mb of ram, a 320×240 3 inch screen and boy did it suck. Lag was huge but worse was the build quality and lack thereof. In fact we had one just about catch fire while using the GPS, the screen turned colors and the plastic melted off the phone. avoid Avoid AVOID.

Comcast and Verizon working together…Am I the only one scared by the concept of these basically creating a supermonopoly?

You said above that you are not a graphical designer. Hello, I am a Web Designer, WP Developer, and I use a Dell Venue Pro everyday as my personal phone.
1: Metro UI uses a grid to align everything, the size of the arrow you hate so much is exactly 1/3 that of the tiles. The white space on the right is 1/2 that of the tiles, this creates a sort of nuance to it that your eyes can’t see. The IE tile is fine with the large contact point, you are so much more accurate when tapping.
2: That is not a book mark, that’s pinned to the start menu. It’s meant to take so much. I have The Verge pinned on my lower right side, works like a charm.
3: This tiny thing makes a freaking huge difference that you don’t see. The space created by the arrow is a zone that does not launch apps. It prevents you from tapping on some tile. This is one of the most fantastic things in everyday use. I don’t even pin the Facebook app, it’s FASTER to get it from the app menu. I’m not kidding!
4: No. The Windows Phone interface is intended to be glanceable. Controls are in the app. It would be pointless to put controls on them. What denotes going in the app vs the second unread app?
5: Big fat NO… Personally the app drawer is 1000X better than android’s. and the lack of sort forces you to learn order.

Very much so, the 360 is way more capable than they make it out to be. They forgot the fancy built in household streaming from all PCs, or the smartphone remote, or the local storage…

Personally, from a WP7 developer’s stand point, MS screwed up Metro in Windows 8. They forgot that “Content, not chrome.” concept around halfway though and now it’s a mess. Usability wise it’s not bad, but it’s much slower than it should be. I have fun talking to 4S owners who ask me what phone I use, show them my Venue Pro, they laugh and then I show them how my phone is physically faster than theirs. How I can open Email in a snap, messaging. Everything. Windows 8 does not have that. I can open email and send a five word email on my 1Ghz single core phone before mail loads on my 2.9Ghz dual core 2011 Macbook pro with W8CP. This is just sad. The only thing I love about Win8 is the HTML+JS enviroment. The Metro UI on my phone looks great. It sucks on 8, It’s not Metro.

Nope, a 32GB TF300 is $399, the competing 16Gb is actually $30 cheaper than this piece of crap.

What a fantastic point, I find it the same for myself as well. I remember the first windows phone ads. Get in get out, get on with your life. Yet side getting my mango Venue pro it seems worse! Keep up these fantastic logs, Paul, or whoever posed it can tell him that.
