The “high” cost is relative to the type of creative / design work. I work in video, animation, and post production and the Adobe apps are far and away the cheapest of the apps I use on a daily basis. The rendering software alone costs more than the entirety of the Master Collection when it was still came in a box, and still has to be updated yearly by either direct upgrades or much more expensive subscription models ( see Autodesk ).
