Although this is the most economical way to do it with consoles, Steam is often still incredibly cheaper. I almost exclusively wait til a game hits the $4.99 mark, or less, with rare exceptions. For example, I just picked up Borderlands 2 yesterday for $10 thanks to a sale on Steam and a discount code from Green Man Games. This game still retails for $25-$40 on the PS3/360 through Amazon.

I don’t think you get what .psd is trying to get across…. They don’t have to build anything. YouTube is already built. It already has a better viewing experience. It is extremely sustainable (owned by one of the largest corporations in the world).
The ‘only’ advantages that Verge Video has going for it is that it will be part of the ‘theverge.com’ domain, and it will bring in more ad revenue than YouTube would. That’s it… None of what they’ve promoted above is true.

Er, they’re clueless about torrents (something that’s been used for a decade to illegally download music/software/etc) but not some obscure chrome extension?

Even in that case, the plans would function as designed/advertised/manufacturered. The person using simply didn’t follow them.

The $599 iPhone becoming $199 had nothing to do with the cost of tech going down though. Apple didn’t let carriers subsidize the phone initially. Now they do.

HTPC’s are becoming more and more common, and the higher end these become, the more powerful you can build an HTPC. When 4K comes down to affordable levels (probably sooner than you think), hopefully Intel’s integrated chips will be powerful enough to decode and display the content.
Plus, it’s nice to have decent integrated video to use as backup if your discrete card goes out. Besides, it was a whole $20 savings between the i5-3570k and the equivalent Xeon chip which doesn’t include the integrated graphics. No reason not to drop that extra $20 for some peace of mind.
