The Apple stuff is produced by the same “cheap Taiwanese computer manufacturers”. Out of the exact same parts on exact the same machines by exact the same people. For 500-1000 USD more on the pricetag.

The game was good, but the timing was bad – everyone was still working through Skyrim or at least had Skyrim to compare RPGs too in his/her mind. And while Reckoning was good, it was a far cry from Skyrim (superior combat system aside), especially in terms of atmosphere.

Why don’t you ask your boss if and how many people stop showing up in the USA (few people actively cancel an account), as you apparently, judging by the number and tone of posts you made here, work in the vicinity of Facebook.

Only because you are in one persons “newsfeed” doesn’t mean your stuff will really be seen. A newsfeed without categories is useless because it is completely overwhelming. And if the person uses categories you can rest assured 90 % of your ad-posts won’t be seen at all, because they have been relegated into a sub-category that’s views maybe once a week.

Nobody’s leaving Facebook, EVER, except for maybe 3% of its 900m users, and there’s a ton of room to expand over the next 10 years (to the tune of billions of people), with the proliferation of smartphones in emerging markets.
That’s a pretty bold statement. People don’t need to actively leave, they simply don’t show up any more, which happens when something more popular comes around. It happend to Friendster, MySpace, StudiVZ and it can easily happen to Facebook too. There is really no reason to assume Facebook would be immune to it.

You think they should make customers pay more? That’s a very odd stance as customer, as it usually leads to higher prices overall for the same product.
The whole concept of telling the retailers how much they are allowed to charge at a minimum sounds very fishy to me.

For a manufacturer they are one and the same, as they sell the thing down the chain, not lend it down the chain.

For the manufacturer they do. They sell them to the distributor, who sells them to the shops, who sell them to the customer. It’s not like with paperback books where the shop can tear off the cover and send them back to the publisher to get his money back if the thing didn’t sell.

No we don’t as it isn’t true. Vista was the one that was hated. Windows 7 was the one that was praised even in Beta.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Microsoft Corp. (US:msft) Chief Executive Steve Ballmer on Thursday called the release of the software giant’s new Windows Vista operating system part of the “most significant” product launch in Microsoft’s 32-year history. At an event in New York, Ballmer unveiled Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office and Exchange Server 2007 software systems for business customers, saying that the releases will make it easier for users to connect and access information across networks and computer systems.

Ballmer believes another way is to add more control measures to stop piracy. “Piracy reduction can be a source of Windows revenue growth, and I think we’ll make some piracy improvements this year.”

"The test feedback has been good, but the test feedback on Vista was good," Ballmer, 53, said in an interview last week. "I am optimistic, but the proof will be in the pudding."

Of course it is possible to transfer audio, video, power and data with USB at the same time, billions of people do it every day, assuming the signal is digital and the bandwith is big enough (and 60 MB/s are plenty for video, data and audio – and there is always the option for Apple to go with USB 3.0 with 625 MB/s like every other IT company on this world).
The splitting of the data into audio, video and data would be done by the device on the end of the cable.

It has also usability issue in a tablet environment. A sizeable part of settings is still in the classic Desktop UI, which is hard to navigate on a tablet. That’s why Win8 is a failure in my opinion. Neither fish nor fowl.

Chrome does have this feature. I imported the keywords I use in Firefox into Chrome (simply a few bookmarks after all) and Chrome searches exactly the same way Firefox does. Still prefer Firefox though.

I’m suprised you don’t have an issue with the screen. All I have read yet is that the glossy screen is really bad, the matt one (not available at every Cleveo-using builder) is on the other hand useable (completely different panel – a LG one). Still, the resolution is not enough in my opinion.

Because it makes for better viewing angle and enables shot through the screen in movies and TV. Yes, it is a bad idea to take your “future tech design” from Hollywood, because the usability can only be horrific.

I don’t think they should always be automatic. I like Android’s way actually: You are able to set it to “install updates automatic” if you want (default off), but if the App wants new/more access rights it won’t install automatically, but inform you about the update.
