Just everything I’m told here about power sockets and safety is to turn off the switch before connecting anything or when there’s nothing plugged in – I find it strange that sockets without switches would be the norm elsewhere, even considering the voltage difference.

Speaking of Australian power points compared to the US ones – I’ve seen pictures of the US power points without on/off switches on them – that’s the bit I really can’t understand.
Hopefully we’re not too far off there being a $500 solar panel to put on the roof to charge your electric car.

I had thought that the plan would have been to fork off and cut down WP7 further as their low end smartphone OS – or at least try and follow through the design trends from WP into the Asha line into the software. I don’t think these are a ‘hedge’, but they could have tried harder to make them the introduction to their higher end – like the older phones were to Symbian ones.
The tile interface should scale down just fine to the feature phones.

Probably about twice a day – but I wouldn’t want to boot to Desktop (I don’t mind it as an option though) – the first thing I’d do on the desktop would be to start an app, which you can do just as easily with the tiles on the start screen.
One advantage of pinned apps over the tiles however is Jump Lists – the live tiles aren’t document centric in a way that the jump lists made Windows 7. Ideally that would be the long press function in 8.1 once moving tiles around becomes a toggle option.

It’s interesting when considering the responsive design that Polygon has and the different response that IE10 on the desktop has when resized vs the snapped view of the modern IE10 – image here – clearly Microsoft is doing something odd with their snapped view in terms of how websites can target it.
Even Microsoft’s websites don’t do that well. Bing isn’t responsive at all (even in the desktop IE10).
