Probably because our government is $16 trillion in debt. We have bigger problems than making sure people can load Facebook 5 milliseconds faster.

Yes. They are called SSDs and they solve all of these booting “problems”. Crucial m4 512GB and it’s amazing. Firefox launches and tries to load my home page before my wireless is able to connect sometimes. And I even have compression turned on to cram even more on this drive. You don’t even notice a performance difference.

That blog comes off as so Draconian reading it in 2012. It’s like the guy at the patent office who said everything was invented in the early 1900’s. At least 4 out of the 5 myths show how much the Zune HD was ahead of its time. OLED screens are one of a standard array of phone screens now (Super AMOLED), soon trying to say it wasn’t a good mobile tech is now laughable. Tegra 3 is one of the most anticipated mobile technologies at the moment, which discounts his attempt to undermine the choice of the original Tegra. He tried to claim that HD Radio wasn’t an approved standard and that something else would take it’s place. HD Radio is now a standard feature in most new cars and radio stations only use that as the digital standard. And then he tries to disparage the new Metro UI (not called Metro at the time). And MS is basing their entire UI ecosystem on the design. I think it works great for mobile. Not sure yet about desktop, but clearly it’s not terrible for them to be centering their entire software system around the platform. I think they know a few things about selling software.

The volume is low? So you’re the type of person that causes cities like New York to make stupid laws about preventing people from listening to music while walking around.

Huh? I think he’s disappointed the music industry didn’t pick up on the subscription model vs $0.99 downloads. Which is just as innovative as the individual song downloads. And look at the services that are promoting that model now like Spotify, Pandora, last.fm, etc. How is this the same old crap?

Agreed. MS still feels burned by the 90’s anti-trust. I mean, they got sued for putting their own browser on their own OS and promoting it over other products! I mean, pushing their own products over competitors?! Greedy jerks! /s
I think it’s also the reason they leave a lot of “common sense” features out of their software to be filled in by third party devs. Visual Studio is like this. A lot of useful features are left to be filled by extensions. Some of the stuff is so obvious as default features that they have to be left out for fear of getting sued again.

I have a Zune HD 64GB and use it daily. Great device. Shame it didn’t sell better. Actually upgraded from the 32GB soon after they announced EOF since that was nearly filled and had to get one before supply ran out.

Right. Clearly the human race managed to survive before the Internet. I think this is a made up problem. Or a “first-world” problem as we like to call them now.
