Here are a few others

“Xbox One may well have a latency advantage over PS4 and power consumption will probably be lower, but GPU bandwidth – a key element in graphics performance – is indeed more limited on the Microsoft hardware.”

Memory
This is one place where the PlayStation 4 might end up leaving the Xbox One in the dust. While both consoles have the same 8GB of RAM, the PS4 has DDR5 RAM as opposed to the Xbox One’s DDR3. The Xbox One is by no means a slouch in the memory department, but the faster memory on the PS4 might give it a significant performance advantage over the Xbox One.

“BAAM!! “Richard Leadbetter at Digital Foundry speculates that the PS4’s GPU may have as much as 50 percent more raw graphical computational power than the one in the Xbox One. That, coupled with its faster graphics memory may translate into prettier games on the PS4.”
“According to an exhaustive analysis by Digital Foundry, the biggest difference between the two system’s is the type of RAM each uses. The PlayStation 4 uses 8GB GDDR5 RAM, while all signs point to the Xbox One using 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The GDDR5 RAM used in the Playstation 4 is the same type of RAM used by most PC video cards and is optimized for graphical throughput.”
http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/a-closer-look-at-the-xbox-ones-specs-and-what-they-mean-for-you/
“the GDDR5 in the PS4 is very, very quick, providing up to 176GB/s of bandwidth. While we don’t know exactly what figures the Xbox One will pump out, the limitations of DDR3 make it certain that bandwidth will be a fraction of what Sony’s console can handle. This may be the Xbox One’s greatest long-term weakness.”

I guess someone else agrees with me
http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/xbox-one-vs-sony-ps4
“The power of both consoles’ GPUs has been compared to the 7000-series chips used in current PC graphics cards. To find out the exact differences in the actual chipset performance, we’ll have to wait for independent benchmarking.
However, we do know that they use different types of RAM. The Xbox One uses DDR3 RAM, the Sony PS4 GDDR5 RAM.
You may be asking – what on earth is the difference?
The answer is – a lot, and going into the minutiae of those differences gets highly technical, and confusing. However it boils down to bring faster in some respects, and slower in others.
DDR3 is quicker at performing lots of small operations, while GDDR5 is less nimble, but is incredibly quick at performing fewer large operations. GDDR5’s kind of speed will come in particularly handy when dealing with, for example, massive high-resolution textures. GDDR5 has much greater bandwidth."

SOO can we all agree DDR3 will be a bottleneck for the Xbone? Can we all get over our fanboy defense mechanism? I’ve always owned an xbox and have never owned a playstation. I dont even have a console anymore and pretty much just play games on my PC. Its not like my opinions biased. I just expected more from Microsoft. I’d rather them give a GB of GDDR5 to the GPU and 4GB of DDR3 ram for the CPU instead of 8GB of straight up DDR3 fore the system in total. Its such an obvious problem and bottleneck but they deemed it worth it for the sake of saving money. Im sure they didn’t expect Sony to come out swinging with gddr5. 8GBs of it has to be a good chunk of the price of the console. Like I said above yesterday
“seeing how they both get the APU (cpu+gpu) from AMD. The GPUs most likely are based on the same GCN architecture. On top of that, the Frequency of the gpus wouldn’t differ so much as its limited by the chip. So if the ram is the deciding factor… Sony’s system is more powerful.”
By powerful I really mean, its more future proof. I fully expect most games to look the same at launch and year or so after but eventually the PS4’s gonna leapfrog ahead.

again, at 720p its not twice as fast but at 4k it will be. The ESRAM will be used as a buffer and a means to apply aliasing. Secondly half your speech has nothing to do with the current heated debate. Obviously GDDR5 has trade offs like you said “Things like anti-aliasing and running high resolutions do benefit from higher bandwidth and do not get affected by latency,” But a PS4 doesnt run photoshop. GDDR5 may be based off DDR3 but it has vastly higher bandwith. It has almost twice the bandwith as a matter of fact. and HOLY SH*T did i say GDDR5 is better and more expensive because of it or did I was GDDR5 has higher bandwith and is better for the GPU because of it?
AND “Please do more research on memory tech before you pass on FUD as facts.” I DONT GIVE A RATS ASS HOW HIGH YOU CLOCK DDR3, NO WAY IN HELL WILL IT EVEN COMPETE WITH GDDR5 IN REGARDS TO BANDWIDTH.
also to keep in mind, if microsoft wants to clock the DDR3 higher, They will have to pay more for chips that can handle the MHz. Otherwise its more likely they have low binned chips because its cheaper. why pay more for memory that clocks to 1600MHz when they only intend to clock it to 800MHz or 1333MHz.

Depending on the resolution. Mainly because the higher the resolution, the more bandwith is required for the GPU to keep up. Assuming half way past the life cycle of the console. Perhaps 4k TV’s will become available and Sony and Microsoft would be interested in providing games for that resolution. One company is going to have a much smoother ride in that respect while the other would run games at 5fps because the GPU will be constantly waiting for the DDR3. The GPU wouldn’t even be able to be 50% utilized. This is repeatable with PC’s right now. Especially if one wants to use 3 or more screens or just have a really high resolution screen. The only way I see it happening for Microsoft is if they render the games 1080p and then upscale it to 4k so the tv can at least look decent.

1) Yes I really think they will use DDR3 to save money.
2) They have 32MB esram ? embedded? into the apu. Something like how a hard drive can have a small amount of SSD embedded to increase the overall speed. By no means does it make a dam difference when the ps4 starts playing games at 4k and the Xbone has to upscale 1080p in order to compete.
3) 32MB cant really hold much high resolution textures and likely will only be used as a buffer. “a buffer is a region of a physical memory storage used to temporarily store data while it is being moved from one place to another.”
4) WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN??????
It means Xbone ports will run at 30fps while PS4 ports will run 60fps. Especially if developers enable Vsync. Alternatively, both will shoot for 30fps but the ps4 will have better more polished effects and so on.
5) Another thing to consider is how much of the cores are being reserved for other software that I could care less about. An example would be the TV features & kenect. Its very possible only 4 cores are reserved for gaming while the PS4 could have 6 dedicated to games. Everything under #5 is pure speculation of course, But at the very least its educated speculation.

1) I give you 3 links by well known sources stating the Xbone does indeed use ddr3.
2) I quote one of the sites stating the Xbone indeed uses ddr3.
3) It is well known that ddr3 will cause problems in the form of bottle necking a GPU.
4) Considering the Xbone will be playing games at a higher resolution then 720p up-scaled to 1080. The DDR3 will cause even more problems.
5) Essentially its the difference between 30fps and 60fps,especially with non exclusive titles.
6)I like to think I know a decent amount about PC hardware. I built my share of PC’s and you learn a lot along the way. One thing you learn is when you skimp on a gpu and get the same model at a lower price. You’ll find out later that it uses DDR3 instead of gddr5 because you forgot to look. Then you dive through a grieving process and only then will you understand, only then…

I’m definitively not exaggerating it and you will see a difference. Maybe not right away but 2 or 3 years down the line. If you ever used a pc with shared ddr3 for the gpu (INTEL!!!) you would know. Heck, overclocking the ram greatly increases the gpu performance on AMD FM2 socket APU’s. Why because the shared ddr3 is a major bottleneck, thats a fact! Its the same case with the xbox.

He’s definitively right though. The 360 and PS3 proved difficult to compare against each other. The ps4 and One have almost the exact same specs thnx to AMD. Except that the Ps4 has 8GB’s of unified GDDR5 memory. This directly impacts the performance of the GPU. Assuming they both incorporated the same GPU tech, the PS4 would still be twice as fast if not more. Sony shocked everyone with gddr5, it tends to be pricey.

The analog sticks blew me away. It looks like the B on the controller isn’t flush with the rest of the buttons so that may be one complaint for me. It looks like it kinda folds in on the right hand grip. Ohh, and what looks to be a proprietary headset jack
