I think I’m going to need some illustrative examples to help me with this one.

Even if they can make it work, whatever subtle gameplay improvements they hope to achieve with this method would likely get better results from responding the the player’s in-game situation.

I have an iPhone but I think, for the basic functions of the phone my preferred phone OS is windows phone. I gave my old Focus to a friend when it was time to upgrade and he loves it because he doesn’t have a need for a large app selection. I have a skewed opinion of Android because my last was a Nexus S that couldn’t run ICS or JB at an acceptable rate (well, it was more pronounced in apps like google maps but the OS itself didn’t run well either) but I find Holo to be boring. Perfectly functional, but nothing special visually.

This sounds like a gimmick of the highest order.

That is pretty cool, but opening it over his homescreen doesn’t seem to be very different functionally than opening the app from the notification. If you’re actively using an app then system chat heads really shine.

If you didn’t have to leave the text screen to answer the call then that’s pretty neat, but I’m not sure if you can answer calls that way using the headphone mic on other OSes anyway.

You can do all of that in iOS, and probably WP8 (hell BB10 can probably do that).
