Sorry, what I meant to say was they don’t do anything more compared to the competition. In regards to your post, I did read it. And my points still stand.
Cheap – well so are RT devices
‘lightweight’ – well so is RT, and it seems to be kinder to battery life as well
Quick reboot, on, wakeup – RT as well
Security – RT is also secure, and does not get viruses
Bloatware – none on a Surface RT, and on other RT tablets, completely uninstallable.
So all points you listed aren’t unique to CBs. Now beyond those points. RT has more apps, better battery life, full Office suite, USB compatibility with millions of devices, and a touch friendly interface.
So you tell me, if I myself don’t find enough value in RT tablets to warrant buying one despite these advnatages, why would I ever buy a Chromebook?

The reason Chromebooks are terrible is because they don’t do anything and offer little to no advantages over the competition. What ‘progress’? RT devices are in the same price ranges and Chromebooks, get better battery life, and have more applications. Not to mention they support pretty much any USB device.
You mentioned its a light weight OS, but is that really the case? The Pixel stuttered while playing video off the hard drive and it has an i5 processor. You would also think that a device that runs what amounts to a glorified web browser would have good battery life. Every CB so far has had mediocre battery life.
I wanted to buy one, I really did, but even at ~250 I don’t think it’s even worth it at this point. It needs a lot of work.

I had thought for a second that everyone high up at Google had lost it. Glad to see they came to their senses.

Is MS going to be able to use the proper APIs? The Verge is saying they won’t but I haven’t heard it anywhere else

I really wish more people bought this phone. Amazing design and HTC should get more credit for it.

Here we go again, another article making opinionated conclusions and claiming it as fact.
Do yourself a favor and read the source article, which it clearly states:
Microsoft has confirmed that single-player games don’t have to be online to work.
The only thing the source tells us is that games can now utilize the cloud to make their games look even better. But it’s up to the developers if they want to go this route. Which is actually a good thing. We get better looking games.
How Tom can create an article title like that from that source article is beyond me. The Verge is slowly becoming a tabloid. It’s a spin machine that never ceases to amaze. Get your sh*t together Verge, the page-view whoring only works for so long.

Reading comprehension fail. Did all gamers drop out of elementary school or something?
Tip: read the source, since some people (including you) have trouble discerning fact from sensationalized editorial opinion when reading verge articles. All they’ve said is that games can utilize the cloud as another resource for making their games look even better.

If you don’t think there is an anti-MS bias on the Verge your head is in the sand. It isn’t a perception thing, it’s a common sense thing. It’s painfully obvious.
