I remember when cable started showing commercials. My dad cancelled stating he wasn’t paying for commercials. The media companies will try to strangle every penny out of this. They’ll charge for each show. So instead of getting all of BBC, you’ll pay $2 for Doctor Who, $2 for Torchwood, $2 for Orphan Black. You’ll still see commercials, and in some unlucky cases, they’ll have limited viewing or no shows at all. The channel will be just be behind the scenes, clips, or the shows appear or are deleted after three months. I could name several whole channels I’d gladly pay the $2 for.
I make YouTube videos, and it seems like that it’s more profitable for me to broadcast for free and show the ads. I’m glad Google is willing to try new stuff, but I see this turning out to be as popular as YouTube Rentals. Give me all of BBC for that price, and I’m sold. I’d give you the money right now.
