LOL. The same job? Read that article again and tell me which car would you rather put yourself in your family in and which would you rather be surrounded on the highway by.

That’s a good point, but there are similar examples for Android where either through hardware reasons or CPU reasons, even an upgraded phone doesn’t get all the features.
I’m not aware of any such examples. Do you know of any?
I think the bigger difference is that with each new version of Android, OEMs choose to either let the phone languish or go through the pain of developing and getting the carriers to approve an upgrade which would include all accompanying features (usually they opt for the former).
Apple meanwhile wants to get everyone on the same version of iOS, even if that means different features for different phones. They’re more capable of doing that given the control they have built into the contracts with the carriers.

Actually, it’s the handset housing the 3.5 inch screen which they claimed was the perfect size. And they didn’t change that width for the iPhone 5.
That sounds rather revisionist so I’m going to ask for a citation.

The whole point is that if you don’t upgrade you’re missing out on very new, great features. Why should users miss out?
That’s a good question for Apple. They release a new version of iOS to older iPhones yet not all the features are available (panorama, turn-by-turn navigation, Siri, Facetime over cellular, offline reading). All in the name of being able to put out marketing materials such as the one above.

That just proves the point that Apple needs to introduce new products to stay on top. The rest of the industry catches up to them (and sometimes laps them) quickly.

A free market does not imply an efficient or competitive market. You really should learn a thing or two about economics before you say things like “The only monopolies are maintained are with government intervention”
