You love Micosoft too much that you can no longer connect to general users LOL. You need to turn that “looking through Microsoft glass” off sometimes :-)

Youtube doesn’t allow downloading either but Microsoft let you do it on their app. Now Google need to develop XBox music app with download allowed :-D

Where do you get this HTC profit drop for 11 consecutive quarters?
Annually, their profit and revenue still grow almost double every year until 2011. It’s in 2012 that their revenue drop to half and profit drop to a quarter.
From second to third quarter of 2011 their profit was still growing. How is this 11 consecutive quarters?

HTC indeed still in top 10 smartphone maker either based on Gartner or IDC, there has been widely misquoted mobile phone market as smartphone market and people keep saying HTC is not on top 10 smartphone market share anymore. Wrong.

You describe it perfectly I think :-) When it comes to Microsoft, Google always play hard ball. Kick them till they cry, no mercy. And this is what happen now. Many fans cry for days already in this youtube case lol.

There’s no alternatif to download 2 million songs for free
Or you mean there’s no other video app on WP? Don’t think so.

Most probably more than that. Judging from their cost to revenue percentage on 2012 compare to previous year.
More than it diverted their focus. They wasted their resources to WP which is not selling while they can’t even manage enough supply for the HTC One device after months. They should have used more resource, supply, etc to the HTC One instead.

Actually I think if HTC just drop windows phone, they will be more profitable again.
HTC revenue and profit still growing until 2011. Almost double every year.
But since they put more focus in Wondows Phone in 2012 their revenue drop to almost half of previous year and profit just a quarter :-)

Bleh, this economy. People are so frugal these days.

HTC, Samsung, And others do both so it was possible. Assuming this is 2010 and Nokia hasn’t sign that exculsivity agreement. Now we only need to borrow that startrek time machine Google is building!
Anyway, since it already happen, back to OP question: should Nokia end Microsoft Partnership? The exclusivity partnership, they should end if possible. Maybe some gruntled shareholder will even do it by legal actions against Elop.
On other note, Marissa Meyer also is now trying to find a way to end Yahoo partnership with Bing. Now that’s one for Inspiration!

That’s where I don’t agree with you. Fine if go Windows first but don’t make the deal with MS which not allow Nokia to use Android for the next something year. If WP not working (it isn’t) they can start doing Android as well….tomorrow!

No, I didn’t see it because I find such case all the time as well. It’s not illegal either.
But it will be incorrect to say they are profitable.
Now about forecasting, so you think based on this they will probably make profit next quarter? I say not. How about I buy you a cofee if you are right and you buy me cofee if you are right (is this creepy? ahahaha) I don’t even make super ridiculously expensive bet like an angry people usually do :-)

It can be helpful. Or not. Or it can be missleading.
In this case I say it missleading, saying you are profiting by excluding cost that guaranteed to be need to be spent in the future is missleading. Is Nokia plan to run their business without any cost that need to be amortized from now to the future? No. Here they try so hard to come to positive number (maybe so we can debat it in forums all day lol)

it is the non-IFRS the one that easily manipulated. Because everybody can include or exclude anything whatever they one to make them look good. IFRS on the other hand it’s the standard for financial condition of companies. You can’t invent the math yourself based on your agenda. That’s what Nokia did here.

No I think, they shouldn’t lock themselves exclusive to Windows Phone.
Fine if they want to try WP first (maybe they don’t like Android). Then, later they can go Android too (when survival is more urgent then like or not, lol). The best: go windows phone and Android damned it! You didn’t need that 1 billions. In fact they still have time now while still having more than 10 billions euro in the bank. Before it’s too late when there is no more headquarter to sell and employees to fire.

Amortization has no impact to current cash (the cash already spent some other time or or maybe again in the future). But then again profit and cash flow is different. To calculate profit you include depreciation, etc. nothing to do with cash. You can even make billions profit without receiving any money. They are different thing.

They thought that was the best to do and they did it. And I think they were wrong.
Do you think I try to blame you for Nokia’s current situation? :-p

Off course I will repeat it, that was what happen. To go Windows Phone exclusive they dropped Symbian over night which made them billions dollar money. All while they didn’t even have any winows phone device to replace it yet.
If they fork Android they can do whatever they want. Even stock android they can do more differentiation because they can replace anything they want (HTC first Facebook phone, with facebook home).

Not helpful. They even stated there they exclude amortization, etc. whatever they want to make it positive. And they tried so hard to go to only 4 millions. And MS crowd think it start to pay off ;-)
Still it’s not even the number submitted to Security Exchange.

No… They went windows destroying their profitable platform. Without it they wouldn’t even need to cut cost. It’s a drunk trap.
With windows phone they can’t even have much differentiation. With Android they can differentiate what ever they want.
So no, going windows not cutting cost. But cutting their profitable business which than makes them need to cut cost, sell headquarter etc. not giving much differentiation either.

They were strong financial wise. They were still number one smartphone producer, revenue were growing, profit, and cash also. It’s not what I think. It’s fact. Number you know.
What they need was to transition their Symbian platform to something new. They still had time before their financial going down trend. Instead they kill Symbian over night without working plan B other than hope of Windows Phone will fly overtaking iOS (IDC said so). They didn’t have any WP yet btw when they kill Symbian, Fact. Not my thinking.
