Android hasn’t had partitioned space for awhile.

I don’t think it’s the material that matters. It’s the build quality that does. You can have a device made out of metal and have it fall apart, chip, crack, dent, just like you can with a plastic device as well. A “better” material doesn’t mean a better build quality. The iPhone 5 is made of aluminum and there have been plenty of stories of it chipping, and bending when it shouldn’t.

But all things aren’t equal here.

If you are going to put it in a case, material wouldn’t matter most. Wouldn’t battery life, performance, camera, etc. matter more? It doesn’t make any sense to buy a device for material alone.

Definitely wouldn’t say the One blew the S4 out of the water in any of those. So yes, in pitch black the One may pick up a bit, but why wouldn’t you be using a flash??

I wouldn’t have posted either photo is what I’m getting it. But, if you look at the photo, it looks like the focus on the S4 photo was the flame, which would have caused the surrounding area to turn black. There are also two candles in the One shot, but only one in the S4 shot. I have seen several night photos taken with the S4 over on XDA, the camera can definitely perform in low light.

Actually it’s smaller than the predecessor, it’s thinner and narrower. It also has a larger battery than the S3.

I don’t drive either, I like fun cars. :) I don’t care if my phone is made out of metal, or plastic. The design of the One is great, but I also do like the looks of the S4. I have never had an issue with the build quality of the Samsung devices I have owned so I know I don’t have anything to worry about there. Plastic may feel “cheap” to some, but it’s definitely durable, and in some instances, more durable than the metal used on some phones.

If all you cared about was design, sure.
