I have a 60D and came from a t2i. The larger grip is much more comfortable when handling the camera for hours at a time.
One of the top drivers to the 60D was the in between ISO choices. High ISO performance is pretty clean up until about 1000, noise starts coming through after that but still workable.
I photograph dogs at the dog park on the weekends with a 70-200 f/4 USM and get fast, accurate focus in Servo and One Shot
One small complaint is the buttons are a bit soft, not a whole lot of “confirmation feedback” from them, annoying when you need to rush through the menus.

I often look for repeating elements, so I noticed the chairs. Also noticed the wall painting in the back and felt there was enough to chance a photo.

Great job getting triangles out of rectangles. Sweet toning, as well.

Dude, listen to the damn link in the original post.
So it’s not just the “people who dont like Apple…”
John Gruber and Dan Frommer are huge Apple fans, Dan is using words like “fashion” and “cool” to describe the body of people who are buying the product to conform. Your essentially calling them small minded and sad.

There’s a lot of assuming going on there. I have a pair of aeropostale basketball kind of shorts that I’ve been working out/jogging in for 4 years. They are essentially the same as when I got them and have always been comfortable for lounging and exercise.

Interesting point bringing up cases. I guess the window in several cases revealing the Apple logo is for air flow, eh?
A case doesn’t really render a phone unidentifiable, anyways. Can still make out GS3’s or iPhones from across a room, in general.

What part of the OP are you responding to? Tell the “its not rocket science” stuff to Josh and Brian Wilson, they were the ones discussing the fact that generally people are attracted to Apple because, as tech specialist says, the “value of the brand”. i.e. cool
Are you saying they were wrong?

Then what does the fact that the conversations exist conclude? That buying Apple isn’t cool? I’m confused.

Kind of an exaggerated example, don’t you think? Anyways, if it were Steven Hawking or Neil DeGrasse Tyson discussing it, and we had obvious examples of alien anal probing to be observed…then yeah, I’d have to consider that aliens, and probing, exists.

Nike, Ray Ban and Apple all of have competitors, there are other products on the market that match the quality and value. Looking at some Tumblr blogs you’ll find some strange repeating elements. Do Nike Pro workout shorts really impact the workout that much? Is the quality of experience really worth the $50-$60 compared to $8 shorts from Target? I mean, they’re just shorts. But they do have big conspicuous branding on them…hmm…

About the syncing of content, is iCloud really a leader as well? For me, Chrome browser syncs on all my devices because of my Google account, Skydrive is my cloud for big and large files of all types, AirVideo plays video on the iPad mini from a Windows desktop. Possibly we have different syncing needs but it looks to be possible to have interoperability between Windows, Android and iOS/OS X.
Are most Windows laptops really made with poor build quality? Or are just most of the budget ones. You have to compare an $1,800 product to an $1,800 product. Consider the Acer S7 or Lenovo Think/IdeaPad’s. Hard to call them “nasty”.

I think you should put more scrutiny to his use of “cool” instead of “new”. Like I said, social influence is what they’re talking about. The novelty, present now.
Josh and Brian Williams broached this, comparing Apple to the Beatles and if they could sustain “coolness” for as long as they have to continue driving sales.
The proof that conspicuous consumption is a player in ownership is in the fact that it gets discussed in examples like these ones. If it is as small a factor as some say, than I wonder why it gets brought up at all?

I was the first thing I noticed when I took it. Wrote it off in my head as a throw away because of it, but changed my mind once I got the day’s images onto my computer. Kind of a strange, silent communication between a candid subject and snoopy photographer.

What a brave soul, that person…
Hehe. I try and photograph animals frequently. It’s tough, because they um, don’t speak so you can’t direct them easily.
Keep it up. I can tell there has probably been a dramatic crop, impacting the final quality of the image. Perhaps getting the phone closer up to the critter could produce even better results. Good job.

I dig the tones, as well as the subject matter.
Just ever so slightly off center, however. Would be even better if there were greater symmetry.

I would reason this little mini thread could be mined for some information to illuminating some truths about perception and acceptance that is present in the tech world right now.
One guy likes chocolate, the other guy likes vanilla.
The guy who likes chocolate states that vanilla is inferior not because of his preference but for some objective reason, such as clumsy expansion into derivative vanilla flavors, but is then corrected. Chocolate guy admits his judgement was wrong and apologizes.
Yet, chocolate lovers from ’round the world are making the same mistake, creating an ill informed majority preference.
They take a sample size of vanilla, make lots of assumptions, and then pretend to know things about vanilla that they really don’t know.
Let’s take it a step further and say that before they took that sample of vanilla, they were informed that vanilla is Osama bin Laden’s flavor of preference, and chocolate is George Clooney’s.
My point is this. The majority opinion, even though it is a majority, could be argued to be lowbrow and influenced by stupid factors like associations that, given just a little bit of open mindedness and intellectual curiosity produce are more accurate and thoughtful opinion.

THanks for all the advice, guys. I think the vignetting is because of the lens I have been using, there seems to be a bit of softness on that side as well. Going to look into it more this weekend.

I’ve been a photography enthusiast for several years and working in a studio for the past 2. Windows is just as competent for processing your images as OS X, but I digress.
At $500, your options are a little bit limited for DSLR. You could get an entry level DSLR, currently the t5i is Canon’s model but retails for too high for you. You would need to get it used/refurbished, or find the last generation model like the t4i or t3i. With the 18-55mm kit lens, you would be at the wide to medium range of the focal length.
The other option is the RAW shooting point and shoots, like the Powershot G15. This one comes in well within your budget, shop around and you could get it new for $400 or less. I would generally suggest this option to brand new enthusiasts who have a small budget and don’t want to put too much into it.

Do you photograph dogs frequently? They’re tough, as you can’t exactly direct them much of the time. His ears and body shape are creating some interesting form in the negative space, had you had a flash on him you could have isolated the subject well and brought out more detail in him. Next time!
