That argument is complete bullshit, if they didn’t pay for it they don’t deserve to play it plain and simple. According to you, people who pirate deserve to get everything for free because they can claim “of I wouldn’t have paid for that anyway”.
Of course the situation is about piracy. The people are downloading the torrent with the intent to pirate it. It doesn’t matter than it was released by them, only pirates would need to circumvent the official store.
It isn’t that bad when you consider Kairosoft clone their own games over and over again, just changing a few keywords and art assets. Maybe it will push them to do something new.
