Since my gaming PC is hooked up to my HDTV, I play most of my games with a PS3 controller. If a game doesn’t support gamepads (Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3, etc), there is a really good chance that someone has made a gamepad profile for Pinnacle.

My 3 year old Lenovo T61p notebook can play Diablo 3.
I built a gaming rig with a 2500K overclocked to 4.5GHz, 8GB ram, 120GB SSD, 1 TB hard drive, GTX 560Ti, bluray drive, and wireless N card for less than $1000. It can play Diablo 3 at max settings and looks great on my 42 inch HDTV. You could probably build something far less powerful and be able to play diablo and most other games.

Check out glary utilities. It presents startup programs in a easy to read way and shows you which ones may be problematic. It even has links to forums for each program where people discuss whether or not that program is necessary when booting.

I have a 120 GB SSD for the OS and a few games, and multiple terabyte hard drives for everything else

Not so on my PC
It boots to Win 7 in under 20 seconds and I can immediately open Chrome etc.
