Because if the tablet 1)doesn’t run the programs they already have so 2)they have to buy new programs anyhow and 3)they really really want a tablet for whatever reason… they’re going to go check out the iPad, which is the tablet standard.

No one is going to get fired for choosing iPad over a Windows tablet, if it’s an all-new experience anyhow.

Exactly. There’s no carrier subsidy for tablets. When people have to shell out a lot of money, they choose a lot more wisely.

When commenters mention Android’s share of the market, those Android phones aren’t the Nexus or the Galaxy SIII or whatever. It’s the low-end free phone.
