I saw something similar in PC world. Skype seems to be holding (a surprisingly large amount of) people back from buying Chromebooks, which sucks.

Having used Skype recently, I can’t help but feel the service has been gradually getting worse (Maybe since it was bought by Microsoft? Nah, I don’t wanna be that guy).

I find Hangouts actually provides a really pleasant and simple experience, plus free group calling! I’ve only tried it on my PC and Phone, I’m hoping it runs just as well on OSX

I totally understand that, but the idea behind most mobile IM clients, or at least the idea the vendors are trying to convey, is that you’re always available when you’re using their service – at all times.

I suppose some of these clients have the option to change your status to busy or otherwise unavailable, but the thing that bypasses the need to even give people a hint as to whether you wanna talk or not, is the ability to appear offline.

Yes it does? when you’re in a conversation it tells you when they’re online beside the contact’s photo. If they’re not active, it tells you when they’ve last been online.

Doesn’t help the software / UX designers at Samsung that they’re releasing an AOSP version of the SGS4, though unfortunately, the TW model will be the most popular with the average consumer anyway…

Ah, okay then. TW is bloated as fuck.

It’s strange really. My mother recently got an S2 and thought it was shit because it was too busy and seemed too hard to use. When I flashed CM10.1 she thought it was a different phone, gave it another shot and learnt to use it.

Assuming you’re in the US, did you try the S4 with the Exynos or the Snapdragon 600? The lag comment kinda concerns me.
