Star trek is very American. That may seem weird, when it has so few explicit references to the USA and always strived to be as inclusive as possible – with Russian, Afro, and even Klingon crew members :-) -, but the “frontier” mindset is very American.
Babylon 5 would have a better international appeal, I think.
