Windows Phone is a much bigger player in the UK than in almost any other market other than Scandinavia as far as market share goes. It’s above 5% last I heard and climbing steadily towards 10%. That’s enough of a big deal for the BBC to invest in an app, IMO.
The BBC should be developing apps for as many platforms as possible. Accessibility is part of its remit.

A Google-integrated Model S or X is pretty much my dream car. Nowhere near being able to afford it, but it would be sweet.

I work in a really tiny PC World and the Yoga 11 is one of two hybrids we’ve got, the other being the Envy X2. Customers do love to play with it, but we only sell about one a month, in line with our top end ultrabooks or the 11" MacBook Air. Most conventional laptops around that price will sell four to five times that volume.
Whilst I do love the Yoga, it’s RT limitations and price preclude it from being an option for a lot of people. The biggest problem for it and all other convertibles is that even in my small store, you can buy an HP Sleekbook with a decent A6 APU for £399, shaving £100 off of the Yoga and being able to do more whilst still getting a very respectable 8-9 hour battery life. Or you could buy a Lenovo Z500 for £549 and get an i5 and a dedicated NVIDIA GT635 card, and the same build quality as the Yoga. There’s also some really nice touchscreen laptops for around the same price as the Yoga like the Asus S500, and the smaller S200 is the same size as the Yoga but with more of everything and £150 less on the ticket.
For most people, getting a hybrid over a better value laptop or desktop makes little sense. Haswell will do a lot to make hybrids more affordable and capable, but they will remain a niche for students and business customers.

The 7.0" Tab 2 is more popular than the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and iPad Mini combined in the store where I work, so I expect this new model to be a big deal for a lot of customers. It’s nice to have some Android competition with 3G connectivity, as well.
