It’s funny, because “any” video chat app will work on T-Mobile’s network RIGHT NOW. And with their unlimited plan, you don’t even have to worry about using up your data.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that AT&T is doing this. But it doesn’t excuse the fact that they should have been doing it all along.

Technically, it’s still AR, because you are AUGMENTING the existing world. As long as the real world is part of it, it’s AR.
…but at the end of the day it’s just semantics and I’m not sure why it matters…

If someone made a Youtube video of The Avengers with their commentary over the video, that wouldn’t be okay. So I’m really not sure why it’s okay to do it in a game.
I understand in Minecraft, or a multiplayer Call of Duty match. But in a linear adventure, like almost every Nintendo game— Zelda, Mario, Luigi’s Mansion, etc.— why would this be okay, unless the owner (say, an indie dev who, unlike Nintendo, needs the publicity) gives permission?

Okay, so ball is in Google’s court. It will be interesting to see how they respond, especially in light of what Larry Page said at Google IO today.

I actually think KEEPING scores is the thing that requires bravery.
And I like them. Not so much as a hard and fast way to numerically compare products, but just as a way to sum up the review and keep it’s overall tone in my memory. When I read reviews without scores, they just feel… incomplete.

Those screens are also much, much larger, so running Chrome on them isn’t a problem.
The problem is the really high dpi, not the resolution itself.

This. I just don’t get it. Is there some secret trackpad formula that only Apple knows? I know they put a lot of R&D into their trackpads.
But then… a trackpad is just a capacitive touch screen without the screen, and tons of people are able to make good capacitive touchscreens. So why not trackpads?

I’m usually not one to argue over review scores, and I’m not, per se, but here’s how I see things:
The Pixel is also bloatware free, extremely quiet, has a great trackpad, a great keyboard, great performance, and runs an OS that (while limited, and I think the Pixel’s score did reflect that) doesn’t have issues with ultra-high resolution displays.
To be completely honest, when I finished reading the review and saw the score, I was surprised at how high it was. There is no WAY I would pay so much for a computer with this many small issues. Granted, I wouldn’t buy a chromebook Pixel either, but it just seems like a much more thoughtful, well-crafted, polished device overall. And I think that’s what the scores are reflecting.

This problem must be frustrating for Toshiba, because it’s not the company’s fault.
Sure, but Toshiba decided to ignore the issues and put in an ultra-high-res display despite the fact that, it many ways, it makes the experience worse. Why spend all the money (and processing power) on a high res display when it oftentimes makes the computer harder to use? I feel like they were overly-desperate to copy Apple.
At this point, I just don’t think these ultra-high-res displays make sense in Windows computers. And to be honest, I’m not sure they make sense on a Mac either. 1080p on a 13 inch screen looks soooooo crisp already… yeah, retina looks better, but is it worth it?
