I feel many of the comments in this thread indicate the almost religious-esque zealotism of pro-marijuana, to the point of blind irrationality, just like any zealot for any cause.
I support medical marijuana usage. Who am I to tell people with pain I can’t relate to, that they’re not allowed to have whatever comforts them with the condition that it doesn’t adversely effect anyone else around them?
Right on cue, insert an article about driving high, and you get a slew of pro-weed scholars who will tout this study and that study about how people not only not drive worse, but they drive BETTER! and not only do they drive BETTER, they actually inadvertently SAVELIVES and CURECANCER simply by driving down the road high.
Please. On a day I have a bad cold, and after about 3 doses of cough syrup, I feel dampened enough that even I wouldn’t justify driving. Will I kill anybody? Probably not… I probably have a better chance of winning the lottery then killing someone driving while “impaired” by cough syrup. But help me, if ever that does happen, and I did take some medicine and was warned about the possibility.
Why take the chance? Drugs are drugs, whether harmless or not. They alter the nerves perception of what’s actually going on. Whether for pleasure, or for healing, I don’t see how that makes sense to do that driving a 3000 lb hunk of steel at 65mph with people all around you.
The zealots won’t rest until not only is weed legalized, but the government mandates every civilian smoke it, and people be given awards and then sacrificed so their blood can create a pure strain of bud.
