Excellent. Here are the instructions if anyone else is looking for the functionalities:
1. Download Quicksilver
2. Download the plugin User interface access from http://qsapp.com/plugins.php
3. Download the plugin BezelHUD from the same page because the standard QS look is UGLY. You can activate BezelHUD from the QS prefs.
4. Enable access for assistive devices in System prefs – > Universal access.
5. Make sure UI access is installed. You can check this in Quicksilver → Plug-ins.
6. Create a so called trigger. Go to Quicksilver → Triggers.
7. Press the plus sign, and choose Hotkey. In the item box, search and choose Current application. In the action box search for and choose Show menu items.
8. Assign a keyboard shortcut. When the trigger you just created is selected, press the info symbol in the lower right corner. Choose a hot key. I use ctrl + spacebar.
9. Done.
