An effective drm just needs to make the non-toll option more bumpy and time consuming, doesn’t have to defeat everyone. Some people will never use a toll road. Problems arise when the drm makes the toll option more hassle too!
Good points Dave Ray, well made, but it’d be a particular outlook that wouldn’t look beyond free market = good. Here in UK we had “price maintenance” for books. Price fixing, they’d call it in a more free market environment, or protectionism. Kept small bookshops and publishers open though, limited big supermarket buying advantage.
