Yes it is not called Metro anymore but I think they couldn’t establish a better name yet. Even I, as a WP developer, don’t know what to call the new UI so I just call it Metro. In Windows 8 they started calling it “Windows Store style” which is a bit lame in my opinion, they could have come up with a better name.
This sounds more like a fail to me. Ditching Metro-style and embracing iOS/Android UX is like admitting defeat. It is too bad because I think Metro is great and if Microsoft itself can’t make great apps using their own technology how can they be an example to us WP developers?
Having said that, I’ll try this immediately since the current FB app is pretty bad.
Having said that, window is a problem since you cannot project anything onto transparent glass. And fireplace is also a problem since its geometry is very very complex even with 3D projection mapping and its color is probably mostly black which won’t reflect any color to your eyes.
I don’t mean TV in the corner as a first world problem. I mean having an 55" TV and a fireplace :)
If I’m guessing correctly, the projection in this technology will be smart and will consider the corner cases (and any objects near your TV, like furniture). It is called 3D projection mapping. So I wouldn’t worry about that.
