The chiclet keyboards on Thinkpads really aren’t bad at all- by far the best laptop keyboard I’ve ever tried. I’ve also never really understood the obsession with the trackpoint; they’re fine in some contexts but the trackpad’s always seemed a better option to me.

It would only be more suicidal to attempt to develop your own ebook reader, bet the company’s future on it then get outsold completely by Amazon surely? I appreciate that it’s caving in to the competition a bit, but I guess this really is a case of better the devil you know.

I worked in a Waterstones a couple of years back and it’s still one of the few shops that I really enjoy visiting, but with a Kindle I rarely ever end up buying any books there; it’s basically come down to Moleskines and Costa that can part me with my cash there.
There’s a lot to be said for transforming the experience to embrace a digital makeover; if they had some easy way of letting customers flick through a book then quickly purchase it for their Kindle instead I’m sure I’d end up stockpiling even more eBooks I never have a hope in hell of getting to. They’re only ever going to end up with more customers like me who enjoy being in their stores but know when they get home they can buy the complete works of Shakespeare or Sherlock Holmes novels for 70p; better to face up to that reality now than end up turning into HMV and resorting to flogging tablets and overpriced headphones.

Have you thought about a Gorillapod? It doesn’t double up as a standard height tripod but I’ve got one that I can chuck in my bag at any point in case I need it and a larger tripod for when I know I will.

Strange, I remember reading something late last year about Waterstones developing their own ebook reader. To be fair, this makes a lot more sense given that the Kindle has an undeniable monopoly in the UK (and for good reason).
Just wandering if this means current Kindle owners will be able to use Waterstone’s new services on their devices or if their own model will be required to access them.

You switched because of my comments? I’m flattered :)
Personally though, I just read both. Or whatever Techmeme leads me to first.

2. I’ve only just purchased Minecraft in the past week and gotten incredibly addicted to it. Would be nice to have an audience for my massive ambition and meticulously time-consuming creations.

4. A ridiculously large sky-scraper. It may be a Minecraft architect’s cliché but it’s what I’m good at and have some crazy designs to bring to life.
5. I’m new and harmless but you won’t be able to get rid of me :)

I must be one of about 3 people who went from a Pre to a Lumia 800. I clearly despise successful products…

Clue’s in the article: large customers (presumable Amazon and/or B&N) buy in massive quantities and as such have had enough stock to get them through the last quarter without having to order more displays.
