That was my point – if it was so easy why not do it in the first movie? He removed the arc reactor as well – his signature look. And for such a major plot point like Tony failing to save Pepper and then her rebirth it seemed so anti-climactic to just say “I fixed her” – wtf is that for writing? And did that mean that he fixed extremis so it works properly for her? or did he remove extremis from her? Since according to him “he was so close 20 years ago when he was drunk”
I have not read the comics, but I left with a deep feeling of disappointment.
The Mandarin ‘twist’ reeked of M. Night!!!
So Pepper gets extremis and all of a sudden fights like the ‘Black Widow’ and can understand how to control her powers after just basically dying?
The last 2 minutes of exposition basically ended with, “I’m Tony and I fixed it all so we’re cool” – No we are not cool. Why remove the shrapnel now? Why remove the signature look? Is Pepper Extremis’d up still?
I had so much against this movie after just watching halfway through. I wonder if word of mouth is having an effect, because I saw it on saturday night in a pretty empty theater. We were wondering where everyone was.
