I don’y see the red “dot” for the seconds :P

Pretty nice icons. I like the black theme, but I would use the “swiss” iPad clock. I don’t think there will be toggles and the change to slide to unlock seems to radical and unnecessary (it’s not straightforward as the current one).
Oh, I like Adele.

Well, if they announce the new OS X during WWDC and you buy a Mac AFTER the announcement, you are entitled to a free upgrade if I remember well… OS X nowadays is incredibly cheap, but still.

Yeah, let’s add dedicated buttons.
A dedicated shutter button, and why not a dedicated button to start a new telephone call?
You know what? It would be great to have a dedicated button for each number, they would be damn useful when composing a new number.
Oh wait…

How are Apple products “new”?
Apple as a company has been around for a longer time than most competitors.
If you refer to the “new” product categories they put on the market, they are not new anymore and have been followed by several other companies (which therefore would be “newer” than apple in these markets).
If you refer to the refresh rate of individual products, again this is a pattern followed by most other companies, even at more frequent rates and often with more products.
So, I think by no means Apple and its success can be considered “news”. If they keep being considered useful (and, yes, “cool”) by a large portion of the marketshare over an extended period of time, this can not be connected to novelty. Not anymore.

The Verge should eventually do something smarter than Distro. I downloaded some issues but eventually got tired of it. Despite some nice interactive features it takes too much unnecessary features from paper magazines. Too much useless bloat.

You can read for free an article on the web each month (if he didn’t change the paywall behavior). If you want to read something more you can just pay one month subscription ($1.99) and have access to ALL past issues for that month. This includes Newsstand and web-based access (which also allows to download issues in Kindle and ePub formats). It is not strictly a tech magazine, and not all articles are of the same quality, but the average level is outstanding in my opinion. It is a great option for whoever is interested in reading well written essays in several, often not very well known subjects.

could be great for reading academic papers. I currently just read them on iPad since “big” e-readers (basically everything over 6’’) have always been both expensive and disappointing.

I simply got a pack of amazon branded rechargeable batteries, and use them with a charger I had around at home. Works fine for me.

I have found that for me Window Tidy > Divvy. Much more flexibility. I have seen it in free promotion on the app store several times, give it a try if you happen to see it. Also, the dev is friendly and responsive, I have contacted him a couple of times.

yeah, I bought it in a sale, I thought it was more a novelty but it’s actually handy, also thanks to all the plugins.

It’s not just grandmas in my opinion.
I can do a tutorial, learn everything, then not use the phone for a couple of months for whatever reason and forget about it. Because life is complicated, there are things to learn and remember everyday, no reason to complicate it further. I have Clear, I do not use it that much, so I regularly forget some of the gestures. Some visual cues should always stay there. Notice how the gesture for the current camera shortcut in the lock screen is made self-evident by the lines above and beyond the icon. You can’t miss them and their meaning.
