I’ve been living with iOS 7 for sometime now. Yes it is Buggy but i dont think it is bad. Some choice of colors are bad but otherwise i think the OS is super cool. I have another iPhone 4 running older iOS and i just cannot now go back to that. I think the verge team has to just download and use iOS7 and live with it for few days. It definitely is brilliant very well thought out OS. And remember they are definitely holding of some parts of it for the next iPhone announcement. Then, it will be presented as a product and not software+hardware.
I just hope Verge is not going with Samsung because of sponsors. It would be a sad day. (I dont think they are and i feel it is just a knee jerk reaction for a change in a direction they never saw)

New flat design in book notes. Very clean, very minimal, frankly looks a lot like Google’s new design push.
But no pictures of that?

Ultimately, FanTV will work only if cable providers agree to partner with the company to provide a live TV stream.
That is the problem – which i think Steve mentioned being a Go to market strategy.
1. You either talk to all of the content providers to help set up a live stream server model and you create something like Comcast who now downlink it using dishes.
2. You talk to one Cable provider a big one – again like Comcast and ask them to adopt it at their end. Which means the network companies wont agree as it likely would change terms.
I am guessing 1 is what apple is doing now – talking to big companies to give their content/Live TV to apple and Apple inturn would use internet to live stream these channels.
Problem is that means you need high speed internet (apart from your many devices at home) and again the cable companies controlling that would prevent you from doing it.
One other way is to look at the data coming in from that cable wire and see how all that can be interpreted to the box you have.

It took me a while to adjust from iphone 4 to iphone 5 – the way i hold it one hand. If it is anything bigger – i think the point is lost.
Tim mentions points which ends up being counter productive but look at what advantages it would bring.
Bigger – screen for Videos? im sure when you are watching a phone you make a trade off by not watching it in the TV a 42 inch you may have. Then again TV is a trade off from watching something in the theatre/cinemas or a projected screen.
Multiple apps at the same time – sorry that doesnt work. It seems like a gimmick and it drains battery completely.
More content? – Isnt it better to read something by scrolling more and being able to hold it in one hand easily?
I dont know of the usecases that would make it “want” a phone with a bigger screen .. but there is definitely one striking point that would make it the best thing to have a 4" screen.
as for your iPad 3 to 2 – try using ipad 3 and then go back to ipad 2 after sometime. Something so obvious as good print would make the difference big.

I am guessing lot of us are going to be super disappointed or the tech world will probably not be impressed about the change (like iphone 5 design). When i iphone was released Jobs called Ive and Ive said “its not shabby is it?” or something like that. I think it did become shabby in comparison with other smartphones and their own design language in general. Look at OS X – the update to finder with silver icons and itunes in general is what they’ll achive now. Something that is in sync across different screens. I see this more like a Clean up than bringing innovation. Just clearing off the shabbiness. The guess is it wont even be mentioned as something significant or a complete spotlight in the keynote where they’ll probably call it once to say – look there is something new and you’ll see changes – may be some default apps. The major overhaul will probably be the feature set and whilst explaining that you’d see the design language change.

Yahoo can invest in HTC like how Microsoft went with Nokia. Give them the required money, services and everything for Android (Like Amazon) while keep building great iOS apps. But would Mayer allow that to be spent on a Google platform? She could if they were to remove the Google out and bring All Yahoo in. Unlike Facebook they could do a second round with Yahoo and just step back and not take over homescreen or something.
