“Ease of use” and knowledge are orthogonal concepts. I’m not saying people should use complicated and difficult processes to operate their computers, I’m saying they should have a good working knowledge of what’s going on with their computers. Computers are now a way of life.. For example, in South Florida, owning a car is basically a must, the people I’ve met who have no clue how one works are also the ones who get victimized at the repair shop. If you’re comfortable opening yourself up to that then sure. The same thing happens with finance in the US, a few understand it and they prosper, and most don’t and so they suffer. The list goes on and on with anything people might consider a necessity.

QA technicians at almost any tech department are usually the least skilled programmers(at some companies they’re not even programmers), they seem to do just fine knowing when something is off with a piece of software and learning how it works. Telling people they shouldn’t have to know about their computers is basically a new age Apple moto. I can’t say I’m a fan of it, especially when there is already a shortage of programmers in the US and we’re not training enough yearly.

The reason why this headache exists where the game has to constantly go back to the mother ship is specifically because of pirating. I’m not sure how you’re going to crack the game where it hands you your items and achievements off their servers.

Patent trolling with regular expression. Awesome. I don’t quite understand how anyone thought this was an innovative feature, it’s been used in Comp Sci forever…pattern recognition and then tying an action to it. Pretty basic idea, not sure you should get a patent for that.

“By pursuing authors directly, Amazon can cut out the middleman and pass on the savings to authors in the form of higher advances and royalties, and to readers in the form of lower book prices. " – from article “Amazon’s Hit Man”
And yet with all these, pro-raise prices people, you’d think they’d get this is what’s happening. Publishers are middle men, they don’t write their leeches whose time in the sun has come and gone.

I’m saying he was probably working on his game instead of spending time tweeting. I’m not saying you’re an idiot or anything(sorry if you took it as an attack, it wasn’t meant to be), I"m just saying he’s out being productive. I’m not sure tweeting is that productive in his field. When I’m coding i can lose 8 hours and not be aware, sometimes I barely know what day it is.

Oh yeah…attacking a market that has money and is unbelievably under served, is “grasping”. Right now, outside of rolling your own Ubuntu notebook a Mac is your best mainstream bet for a linux development notebook, and it’s nowhere near as good as developing on what you’re deploying to.

Hey, I’m not defending it at all. My original comment was that people are destroying English, by over using the word “creepy” for EVERYTHING. I also don’t think we should level judgement on their marketing department til we see their American ads.

I’m saying it’s just as fabricated. They don’t even show the followup to the Siri answers because it’s not elegant. Find me some soup..here are places with soup…MOVING ON..wait..does it order the soup for you? How does she get the soup? The only full interaction are the reminders. It’s misleading at best like most marketing material.

Is that the new thing now? To just to throw the word “creepy” around? Either people are completely weak or they don’t know what the meaning of the word is anymore? A commercial makes you feel apprehensive and nervous? really? It’s a bad commercial. However, it’s not for the American audience, we generally like our cheesy commercials in the form of a famous actress wearing full make-up in her PJs talking to her phone, which is just as believable as this.

As long as Amazon doesn’t make enemies with their customers, no one outside of their competitors should care. I’ve never seen a company so attacked of late for giving their customers low prices. That just goes to show how crazy corporate fanboism has gotten. Repeat after me.. “Corporations don’t love you, they just love you’re money”
