Well, doesn’t it? Isn’t that how most corporations work? Sharing knowledge and ideas for the good of society… as long as it’s profitable for us. Or would you like to discuss the ridiculously overpriced medications not affordable to the average person (who is usually uninsured)?
But I digress. It’s interesting to see how you ignored LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE I stated just to focus on that one thing. He stated, “Hey, you’ve ALL been infringing for some time, but I’m cool and don’t mind. Except, the U.S. (see DOJ) has been really f*cking me over. Over IP. I think it might be time to play hardball, except by hardball I mean I’m totally in the right here. So I can sue you, you can pay me licensing fees or you can just send a few bucks my way and we’re all good.”
And could he just make his patent public domain? Asking in all seriousness. No one would be able to scoop it up if he did that or claim dibs on it or anything?
Seriously though, I get that he’s got a checkered past and a lot of people don’t care for Megaupload itself. But really? You’re going to still bitch about the guy despite EVERY SINGLE THING THE DOJ HAS DONE THAT’S BEEN A SLAP IN THE FACE OF OF JUSTICE AND DUE PROCESS? Man, that’s f*cked up. I like to pick my battles and judge people and all that. But I’d much rather stand on the side of the guy being f*cked over by the DOJ than the side of the government that tramples laws and sovereignty of foreign nations (and its citizens) as it sees fit. More so when said government/DOJ is doing so at the behest of corporations.

How’s it feel weight wise? Can it be easily picked up using just one hand? (Not necessarily carried that way, but just to gauge the weight that is.)

Sounds about right. Most people buy name brands like Dell or HP because they haven’t heard of, much less used, anything made by anyone else.
When given a choice I always prefer Lenovo. Now if only I could get the company to buy me one. My personal 16" Toshiba Satellite, as great as it was when it came out (at the launch of Windows 7) is starting to feel dated (not too mention rather large and heavy).

Well ignoring both those things, he is someone to respect. He’s thus far managed to stay out of the hands of the U.S. government and completely make the DOJ look like idiots. Something that isn’t necessarily commonplace and definitely not to be scoffed at.
As long as he’s on New Zealand soil, being hunted by the U.S. government largely becomes an issue that can for the most part be ignored, as New Zealand is currently not just allowing them to extradite him.
As for no money, believe he gets some from the government there. Not too mention the fact that he’s still living in his amazing home (mansion) and just recently launched a new service in the same vain as his old one.
Basically, the points raised by you are largely flawed when looked at logically and jump you to the head of the “winner for the daily internet stupidity aware”.

The guy that the story is based on has made some interesting claims that some of what he did was at the behest of various world government agencies. There is credence to some of those claims. So yeah, just like that guy, what he did was morally and legally grey, but it wasn’t wrong per se.
