No that’s not a big deal. What I think is ridiculous is that you have a crappier screen in this phone compared the the S4. Why? Samsung is one of the largest screen manufacturers in the world, it’s not a supply issue. Or, in some of the smaller Galaxy’s they’ve released they’ll have less storage and/or a worse screen. Again, they’re forcing people to make a trade-off. I’m not just pointing out Samsung either, every company does it.

This is what I completely fail to understand about the smartphone industry. Why downgrade the specs? Every phone has some kind of trade off. You can either have the best specs in one phone, waterproof or a smaller screen in another but worse specs.

I consider myself somewhat of an audio snob (I own a pair of Grado SR125i headphones) and I use these at work or anytime I want to use earbuds. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13221864
I think they sound fantastic. And they’re $20

As you progress in product design there eventually is a point where there’s an optimal design, and competing versions will gravitate towards that point and start to look similar. Like how most cars look relatively similar, and computers, and vacuum cleaners, and shoes, etc. I mean, how many different ways can you set up a lock screen? Put the clock at the bottom instead?
I still think they’re pretty dissimilar, and at least this way Google will have to try even harder to top what Apple will put out, and vice versa. Keeps getting better.

Had mine since December, few minor scuff marks on the back until yesterday when I dropped it on the sidewalk. Chipped the chrome around the edges, and bought an LG case from the T-Mobile store about 15 min later.
Have to say I don’t like the case, it makes swiping from the edge of the screen difficult. How does bumper handle this? Any recommendations?

Well I shouldn’t say not possible. It would be very difficult to convince a venture capitalist to give you millions of dollars to do it. Something like this would be a very niche market.
To paraphrase Steve Jobs, people don’t know what they want until you give it to them. Feel free to flame me for that, this being an Android forum and all :)

‘The problem is that manufacturing a phone is not that simple. But how hard can that really be?’
I think you’re grossly underestimating how hard and expensive it can be. You’re talking tens of millions of dollars, at least. And while yes, I would love to see your
idea come true, it’s just not possible. These companies spend millions of dollars a year to do market research to determine what people want in a phone, and with that they build a phone that’s going to please the majority of the population. As it’s been said before, we here are not the majority. I also think that if you loaded a phone up with the best specs possible it would push the price up really quickly.
You also have to take into consideration the R&D cycles of building a phone. The S4 or One or whatever may not have the best processor or screen out there because the latest and greatest wasn’t available when they were developing it. At some point you have to pick what you’re going to use and go with it.
I think in the future phones will eventually move the way of computers, where you pick the size and style and customize the components. Smartphone manufacturers have done a terrible job giving people good options besides their high end lines, and you usually have to sacrifice some element you want, like screen size or storage space. We’re probably a ways off from that unfortunately.

My experience has been that you find something like this that works temporarily, but after a week or so it goes right back to how it was. I’ve always had auto brightness off and mine still lags. Hope it works for other people though.

What about a Chromebook? I don’t know how the ecosystem translates over from android, I’m sure someone else can comment on that though.
