For any fellow redditors: I’ve posted this on the Apple sub-reddit and it seems to be getting some love. Some nice discussion going on too.

Sensible move by a great company. It’s exciting to see Evernote grow and watch a genuinely nice guy like Phil Libin do well.

Leica’s products are gorgeous, but they feel so out of reach (in terms of price). Think a middle-aged me is likely to cash splash on one though.

I guess you price high with the prospect of gaining large capital and with a risk of not attracting enough buyers… or you price low, attract plenty of buyers, but not gain as much capital. Having said that, I don’t think Zuck is going to have a hard time finding buyers.

I honestly think this is the most intelligent move Microsoft have made in a long time. The upfront costs of such a bundle are often enough to put off some buyers, this will be the flipper. That little switch in the minds of parents is now going to move from: “no you’re not having a games console, they’re way too expensive!” and land somewhere around “OK, I guess $15 a month isn’t too bad, and I guess it’ll keep you occupied…”.

Real quote taken from RIM’s employee guide for nurturing creativity:
If there is ever a time when you don’t have ideas of your own, steal from your competitors and repackage them using RIM’s U.G.L.Y. design standards.
I fear another patent war is on the horizon.
